2012 Round 11 vs Port Adelaide
It doesn't matter who we play, Port or Adelaide, it's always a hard trip over to SA. The Hawks however overcame our hoodoo and were back to their unsociable football to convincingly defeat the Power by 46 points.

Even though Cyril wasn't named in the best he was a major influence on the ground with a career high 14 tackles for the game. It was vintage Rioli with his chasing and applied pressure. Grat game by the champ.

2012 Round 12 vs Brisbane
It was a cold and wet day at the 'G' but the Hawks were too strong for the Lions.

Once again Cyril put on a clinic for pressure and tackles recording 9 for the game and 23 over the last two weeks. Rioli is in some pretty good form at the moment and hopefully he can become more consistent and achieve these result every week.

2012 Round 16 vs Western Bulldogs
Great win by the Hawks over the doggies. We are on a role at the moment with some big winning margins.

In typical Cyril style he once again proved that you can influence the game with quality possession and pressure than racking up large disposal tallies. Another very good performance by the champ.

2012 Round 17 vs Collingwood
Over the last couple of weeks we have smashed the bottom teams so it was great to see the Hawks completely dominate a quality team in Collingwood. Right from the start of the game the Hawks were switched on which really showed in their on field pressure. Great win.

I'm sounding like a broken record but once again Cyril was outstanding with his chasing pressure and tackling. All day he was harrassing the Pies backmen resulting in several goals from his pressure. The Hawks are also benefiting from the extra time Cyril is spending at the centre bounces. Several times on the weekend Rioli was able to use his explosive pace to extract the ball quickly in to our forwards. Cyril has taken his game to a whole new level over the last 6-8 weeks.

Here's a good article on Cyril's performances

"WHEN you're happy you're playing good footy."
That's the simple manner in which Hawks maestro Cyril Rioli assessed his game in his club's 47-point belting of fellow premiership fancy Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday...

Well done Cyril in reaching your 100 game milestone. Hopefully you play a blinder.

IF SELECTED on Thursday, Hawthorn star Cyril Rioli will play his 100th game for the Hawks against the Bombers at Etihad Stadium on Friday night...

2012 Round 18 vs Essendon
Another terrific win by the Hawks never allowing the Bombers to get into the game to score a smashing 94point win.

It was Rioli's 100th game and he put on a special display on the night with a best on ground performance. Cyril's defensive pressure is the best in the comp and once again he chased, smothered and tackled with ferocity. You could tell the Hawks really want to win this one for him as he is such a well liked and respected player among his peers. Well done Cyril on playing 100 games with the Mighty Hawks.

Cyril Rioli sparkles in his 100th game

THINK Cyril Rioli and you think exceptional skill, brilliance and flair, but 100 games into his career, it is time to acknowledge that Rioli may just be Hawthorn's most potent defensive weapon....

Not sure if I am seeing things but Rioli looks quite a bit bigger accross the chest and shoulders this year.

Does anyone know how much time he actually spent in the midfield this year? Since his Hammies have been good for quite some time (touch wood), is there still an idea to make him into a midfielder? Or is he going to remain ultra dangerous and explosive small forward (with only the occasional impact runs in the midfield) for the rest of his career?

And do people think his best is still to come?

I think they'll run with the same hammy strengthening program as last pre-season and try and improve them further. I don't think his best can get any better (tbh though his best is top 5 in the comp) but I think he can definitely work on his consistency in producing his best more frequently and for longer periods during games.

I'm talking same quality/impact per disposal but an increase in disposals. He averaged 15 disposals in 2015. I'd like to see him aim for 18+ while maintaining his devastating impact with most of them.

Cyril is out of this world. Watching him in preseason, I realise how I sometimes take his brilliance for granted. I've never loved watching a player this much.

I have said this before, at Hawthorn we are blessed, or have been since 1961 when we won our first flag. We have the best coach, and staff, attract the best players to our club, have the best quality people in charge, and have the best supporters.

This is a formulae for success, and a reason why, if we happen to drop back a little this year, it will only to prepare for our next assault.
