Suggest a category for percentage as well as # of wins.

Our last 4 end-of-season %'s are: 73, 78, 76, and 60.
My prediction is over 75%.

If we don't get that % up to respectable levels we are kidding ourselves.
Good point. Although we let through less points than previous years, our 'points for' dropped about 350-400 on average than over the previous 3 years.
I put it down to the weakest midfield we've had and a lack of inside 50's and quality.
In 2019 I'd be surprised if there wasn't significant improvement in our midfield. We've lost Hall and Barlow but they only played 9 games between them & Lyons leaving is replaced with Miles arriving.
The upside is another pre season and improvement in Miller, Fiorini, Bowes, Ainsworth, Brodie and arrival of GHS, Murdoch and Ellis for experience.

Lions have improved from 61%, 74% to 89%.

I'd like to see us improve from 59% to around 75% like you say and think we can.

Hey everyone, any info on how Witts is tracking? I'm beginning to consider him at R2 in SuperCoach.

Likely don't have the balls to start him over Goldy etc. but I see him as a break-out candidate. 26 years old and 80 games played (around the same as Grundy at the start of 2018), averaged 105 for the first half of the year before picking up a bit of a niggle it seemed(?).

Is there anything I should know about his preseason? How does he look?

Apologies if this is the wrong thread for it. As you were.

Plenty of doom and gloom in the media surrounding us in 2019. However I'm quietly optimistic and interested in the thoughts and predictions of other fans in a year with plenty of unknowns.

1. Number of wins - 4
2. Our captain - Witts
3. Biggest improvement - Ainsworth
4. Best and fairest - Miles
5. Leading goals & amount. - 2MP (38)
6. Surprise packet - Jezz McLennan
7. Left field prediction - Jack Martin All Australian on a wing.
8. Best win. - Essendon at Metricon

Is it doom and gloom or media just saying they expect the Suns to not win many games?

Heading in to last season on the Lions version, I said I expected us to finish bottom 2 and on about 5 wins, but for us to generally improve on field. I wasn't looking at our up coming season as doom and gloom, just trying to be realistic about where our list is at compared to the rest of the competition. Though I didn't expect Carlton to Carltank.

"Worst list in the history of the AFL" sounds pretty doom and gloom to me

That was back in October.

I thought you were talking about recent media articles predicting next season or something.

Essendon's 2016 list was worse. Some AFL "Media" have short memories.

Yeah,
Don't think most commentators would say our list is better currently based on in and outs - not much thought to natural progression or development.
Out: May, Lynch, Kolodjasnij, Hall all 'wanting out' - in reality we moved two of them on.
In: Miles, GHS, few state leaguers.

Lloyd is a goldfish.

Oh yeah I remember that season when the disgraceful Essendon Needles Club was caught on a mass scale taking PEDs and the following year that weak pathetic VFL CEO Gil McLachlan gave that same organisation the number 1 draft pick in the Main Draft, Rookie Draft and PSD Draft.
What a joke the VFL is.

1. Number of wins - 14
2. Our captain - Miller
3. Biggest improvement - Bowes
4. Best and fairest - Weller
5. Leading goals & amount. - Corbett (33)
6. Surprise packet - MacPherson
7. Left field prediction - Someone flattens May against the Demons
8. Best win. - Prelim against Pies

Forward line will probably end up looking like this:
Ainsworth - Wright - Corbett
Sexton - Day - Rankine
Will look good when you can rotate the likes of Martin through there as well.

I heard Ainsworth will be working the wing, which I think would work well with Murdoch on the other wing, if Ainsworth is out of that forward line, does MacPherson or Aaron Young come in? Maybe even Lemmens or Ah Chee?

The small forwards are the hardest to sort, genuinely cant tell who will play more games

Haha both good pick ups.

Jez has a funny look on his face.
Pearce has a real irish looking head
Also who is that between Hombsch and Collins, Connor Nutting?

Few personal player achievements I'm hoping for this year.

- Jack Martin: 20 games, 20 possessions / game, 20 goals for the year
- Rory Thompson: 20+ games
- Pearce Hanley: 20+ games - please!
- Izak: 1+ tackles inside 50 per game
- Peter Wright: 1.5 contested marks & 1.5 goals / game
- Will Brodie: 20+ games & 5 tackles / game & 10 goals for the year - think we need one of him Swallow, Miles, Miller to show they can kick goals - wouldn't mind him running forward as a big strong player to take a few marks on a smaller midfield opponent
Crisps kicked 11.15, Fyfe 11.11, JPK 10.12, Cunnington 10.2 - similar return for Brodie would make him a more valuable player for us.

- Lachie Weller: 12 goals for the year - needs to use his run and beautiful kick in more attacking motions.
- Ben Ainsworth: 20+ games, 50% of games with 20 possessions, 12 goals for the year. Sounds like he is going to play more mid, probably going to be a bit inconsistent, but if he can show he can put a number of good games together think it'll be really encouraging.
- Jack Lukosius: 10+ games, 4 marks / game

If we manage to tick off most of these things then I reckon it means our team has done pretty well this year.
Stayed healthy compared with previous years
Getting more goals from midfielders.
Improvement from our key young players.

Bring on 2019!
