Thanks DogDays, Why can't the club give us this kind of content.
Those pictures of every player with a summary of how they went in the scratch match is exactly what we are all after.
Best Bulldogs content I have read since the match report of our last game against the Tigers.

The club wouldn't be objective. Can't imagine them captioning,

Easton Wood: If I hadn't seen him I wouldn't have known he was there... very quiet.
Fletcher Roberts: I really like Roberts but think this is his last year, didn't offer much.
Roarke Smith: I don't see it. Did nothing and I'd be surprised if he was on the list in 2020.

Appreciate DogDays' honesty.

You are of course correct - the club would never give an honest appraisal in case it hurt the player's feelings.
The honesty, you would hope, would come from an AFL Media journalist covering the Bulldogs pre-season.

Agree with those that say our video footage on the club website is naff.

By comparison, Take a few minutes and watch some of the clips on the Lions website. So much better.

We’re really missing a trick not optimising this marketing channel. Ours are too short in duration. Not frequent enough and some of the content that does go up quite questionable.

Thanks everyone, it was nice for once to be able to contribute something worthwhile to BF... even if it’s only my opinion.

I spent a lot of time watching Tom Boyd. My son (and wife) have both had depression and while that doesn’t make me an expert it does mean I know the signs to look for.

Tom was upbeat, positive and getting around his team mates. A small snap shot into his life but one that makes me think that - at least for the moment - he’s got it under control and is enjoying training with the team. I’m hoping this translates into him recovering and playing some good footy. When he was up here last year, he was nowhere near as positive as I saw him on the weekend. I must have at least a dozen photos of him smiling, etc.

I know it's the usual pre-season position to get pumped about all the kids who've developed physically and look great at training but we really do look exceptionally well stocked this year.

Of all of them the one who I'm most excited about is Fergus Greene.

Looking back over his games late last year he showed so many forward smarts with his positioning and ball skills.

He is also good overhead and a strong tackler. As his body gets stronger and he gets more competitive in contested ball, I can see him being a real asset.

What gets overlooked with Ferg is his elite tank. His 15.6 beep test ranked him #1 of all 2016 draftees.

His upside is immense, can't wait to see what 2019 brings.

A genuine forward is Fergus. You can't teach the attributes he has as a forward.

Sounds weird considering the player he turned into but he reminds me of a young Nat Fyfe.

He consistently had 3-4 good shots at goal even in his early games. He commonly looked like he was being ignored but on a closer look he ran long hard leads and came back hard. This combination of a huge tank and a hard to match up on size brings something to our mix.

Will be fighting with a few - like Lipinski

Will be interesting to see how our forwards line up:

[Assuming Boyd and Picken injured)

On experience proven/ability:

Dickson Trengrove Wallis

Gowers Schache LLoyd

Alternative balance 2:2:2 small, Med, tall

Dale Trengrove Cavarro

Gowers Schache Greene

Smaller and faster

Dale Schache Cavarro

Greene Gowers Richards

Top talent

Dickson Schache Picken

McLean Bont Wallis

I called it early last year but I said Greene could develop into a 30-40 goal a year medium-sized forward. His ability to find space is hard to teach and he's pretty good mark. It gives him those multiple opportunities for set shots at goal. He'd only need to kick two a week to be on target for 40 goals.

If he gets a good run at it and has filled out a bit I still think he's a good chance of achieving that. Probably not in 2019 but maybe in 2020.

Having said that it'll be interesting to see whether he even gets picked in Round 1 after we've recruited Lloyd, Cavarra, Smith and West and have several other players (eg Picken, Dale) returning from LTI. All of these will be competing for the small-medium forward spots. That's a good thing.

politically incorrect reporting. suspension is required. he has broken every rule of crass marketing spin and gargle. his writing is full of truthfulness, insight, intelligence, honesty and veracity.

I’ll personally be very dissapointed if we don’t show improvement this year barring huge injuries. I think we really hit the bottom last year and there’s nowhere to go but up. The spread of good developing players plus our core list demographic moving into their prime should mean we won’t be seeing as many smashings as we were handed in 2018. If we are getting pumped regularly again this year and show really inconsistent intensity I’ll be very surprised and quite sad tbh.
i genuinely wish this is true. i still think we have glaring holes, based on last years showing and barring a massive preseason where everything just clicks, i cant exactly see where the huge uplift will come from.
Templeton is correct, preseasons are for positivity and it does appear, from limited reports that a certain mojo has returned and maybe a corner has been turned. Fingers crossed

It's a small sample but statistically he was one of the most effective forwards on our list for shots on goal.

His challenge is pretty simple - try to get himself in higher% positions as right now he gets to places and takes marks but they are in lower% areas. Either that or develop Dickson's goal kicking ability. The reports indicate he's working very hard which is a real positive.

Dickson's goal kick ability is a reflection of the high % positions he takes his shots from though. Ferg reminds me a bit of Will Hoskin-Elliot at this stage.

Yep and I dont think our club content is much different than all the other clubs, by its nature it has to be fairly vanilla.

So long as we don't come out in round 1 with a serious lack of intensity again I will be confident for the rest of the season. Round one last season broke me and I was hardly excited again until the last few rounds.
Id be happy to make if to qrt time rnd 1 without losing a gun for the year. That's an improvement on last year right there.
