Fair enough. Not that Will isn't marketable or anything - just seems strange to me not to go with our current club champion, inaugural player and only player life member, who also actually comes from Northern Queensland.
Evans and Corey Ellis went to Mackay to announce Northern Suns Membership.

Jack Bowes -
IF GOLD Coast's list overhaul has any chance of success, it must be driven by the players aged 22 and under.

And those players know it.

While the off-season additions of Anthony Miles, Jack Hombsch, Jordan Murdoch and George Horlin-Smith will be vital in the coming two or three years, it's the crop of talent below that that will determine the Suns' fate in the longer term.

That group includes players such as Touk Miller, Peter Wright, Lachie Weller, Brayden Fiorini, Ben Ainsworth, Jack Bowes, Will Brodie and top-six picks from last year's draft in Jack Lukosius, Izak Rankine and Ben King.

He has just turned 21 but has a strong voice among the players.

"I feel if we want to accelerate as a footy club we've got to take ownership of our career and drive others to be accountable," Bowes told AFL.com.au.

After spending much of his early career at half-back, he'll be pitched into the midfield more permanently in 2019.

"It's a no-fuss attitude," he said.

"We've been thrown plenty of challenges over the pre-season and there's been no excuses, no whinging.

"Everyone has just put their head down and got to work.

"If we want to take that next step as a footy club we need to be mentally and physically tougher. From that perspective it's improved a lot.

"I think everyone is playing for the jumper this year. There'll be people playing roles and willing to put the team before themselves, which is hard to say at the moment, but that's what we're predicting. We'll see how it translates to games."

Bowes has been part of just five winning teams to date and while he didn't like the string of losses, he was realistic enough to know where the Suns were in the big picture.

"Sometimes you've got to put it into perspective.

"We're young, and I don't want to use that excuse, but it's going to take time and we have to trust that if we put in the work and enjoy the process and get better, the wins are a by-product of that."

Hey Jen, just remember we can't copy and paste entire articles up in here. Even if the link is provided with it :) Feel free to copy and paste a few quotes and then the link!

Look at all these future potential guns 22 years and younger!

Touk Miller, Peter Wright, Lachie Weller, Brayden Fiorini, Ben Ainsworth, Jack Bowes, Will Brodie and top-six picks from last year's draft in Jack Lukosius, Izak Rankine and Ben King

Geez, if half of them reach their potential and stay at the SUNS there could be some exciting times ahead

Keep hold of all these 22 and under blokes and add to the stocks with 2 good to great players and the team will be in a lot better place.
We need 2 of Bowes, Benny, Weller or Brodie to go to that next level. It will be interesting to see what improvements can come from the new assistants and experienced pros that we traded in.

Oh sorry, my bad. I did try to quote the important things; to realize it was all important! haha. I'll try to lessen it next time.

I assumed the rule is only for articles behind paywall. This one is public access.
I could be wrong but, from what I understand of the rule it's to do with stealing click traffic to the websites that run the articles.

Websites would use the analytical data to see which journos are getting what traffic and stuff like that, Could totally be wrong but that's what I imagine the theory would be behind this rule for the non paywall stuff.

Enough potential in that list for a bit of hope and excitement.
Corbett, Ellis, Wigg, Schoenfeld, Joyce, Ah Chee, Macpherson, Scheer, Ballard, Crossley, Powell, Dawson, Mclennan, Nutting and Graham are all also under 22. Id be surprised if one or two of those boys turn out to be really good players aswell.

"I want to progress into an almost full-time midfielder. I look up to the likes of Devon Smith who plays a variety of roles in terms of on the wing, midfield and forward and also (GWS player) Toby Greene with his forward craft. I’ve been chatting with Dewy a fair bit about the balance of playing both roles and when I do go into the midfield what is going to be expected of me. I think my improved tank will help with that."

I’m expecting both Ah Chee & Ballard to be very good, based on what they’ve already shown.

People forget how good Ah Chee can be when he's firing. Kicked 5 against Adelaide in 2017 and kicked 10 goals over 3 weeks against Adelaide, North and Geelong when played forward before getting injured, and i'll never forget him making Buddy look a fool against Sydney this year in that 1 on 1 chase

GOLD Coast has emphatically endorsed Touk Miller's candidacy to become the club's next captain, with coach Stuart Dew saying the club holds no concerns over the midfielder's age or contract status.

If they're ready, they're ready," Dew said.

"Whoever it is, they're going to need some support from the playing group and the rest of the leaders. But you look at guys like Trent Cotchin. He was a young captain and now he's grown into arguably one of the best captains in the League.

"Whoever it is, they will get their first crack at it and I think it's going to be important that we support them."

Have a feeling Touk is gonna be captain with all the postive media he is getting lately

Agree, let’s hope his form is good as i would hate to see our captain in the 2nds

Is he a lock with Swallow Bowes Brodie Fiorini Ainsworth etc all in the mids?

He's good enough to be in the midfield with those boys, and brings leadership and consistency that they haven't.

I don't think Miller is as naturally talented as any of those players you have listed, but the only one of them who plays like him is Swallow. Therefore I think they'll all play every game, if fit. I can't see any of them playing 2nds.

Dew talking about Jack Martin on AFL.com, what’s your take on it as it sounds to me much like the wording around Lynch last year
We know he was close to leaving last year, need to make sure we give him a reason to hang around. If not for that, then get him to play really well to drive his price skywards.

"GOLD Coast is confident a meeting with Jack Martin late last year will help the speedster overcome an unsettling off-season and fulfil his lofty potential in 2019"

Not really known for his speed though is he? These feel a lot like the words of a journo that has only seen a photo of Jack and supposed that the slightly built indigenous kid must be quick.

As for the wording used by Dew; I think it's fair to say he already has a pretty good idea of what Jack is planning on doing after this year.
