We had a little boy, Rui, last month. Constant crying sure helps take your mind off all that other stuff you mentioned. Hoping he quiets down a bit by season start.
Congratulations mate.

Far be it from me to ruin the occasion. But that's not how you spell Rooey...

Why question whether the reports coming from the club are truthful?
Alternatively, why believe the post of an anonymous internet person reporting second hand?
Your call.
It’s easy for me. If I like what you’re saying I’ll believe you. And if I don’t like what you’re selling I’m not going to buy.

Then I just walk around perpetually surprised about everything. But at least I’m upbeat, mostly.

Just notice you live in Japan. We lived there during the time our third son was a baby. He's 20 now, so the years go fast! Great place Japan. We loved it.

Yeah, would only move back for the footy, live music and beaches. I love it here. We're in Nagano so winter wonderland atm. As for Rooey vs Rui I did my best! He can choose his English spelling when he's older. I was a bit worried if I went with Rooey he'd keep getting asked what his real name was. Also he might prefer Lewy if our big ruckman comes through. The Japanese pron could become either r or l as you know having lived here.

Ross made you ran laps if your skin folds were over when you came back from pre season. You weren’t allowed to get involved in the ball activities until you got under. Apparently no one ever re offended once they went through this once
I think Brett Peake lost half the weight from his butt, just because he puked so much from the high intensity running!

What is a Michael Griffiths and why do I want to punch it?
It's a grossly big headed Peter Griffin lookin Mofo that is batting way above his league!
Otherwise known as Face like a busted arse!
A FLABA if you will!

Great stuff. We had three boys. Just a little tip. Don’t keep picking them up if they cry. It’s hard work listening to them crying, but eventually they get the message and stop it. Cruel to be kind. Unless they are crook of course. But ours weren’t. And it did stop.
Eh.. I'm the opposite. Nurture them as much as they need.. As long as you show them love they'll love you back.

Every single person on this planet is different. Every kid is different and that's what makes us wonderful.

My middle child was the worst baby in the world.. And now she's the biggest angel I've ever encountered. It get easier with time.

Good posts Mikka84 and Verdun66 ; reckon the reality is somewhere in the middle yep there are times when you shouldn't react to the crying ( bit like me watching Saints games) , but yep they need to know they are loved!

My 2 kids definitely know they are loved

Hoping my two kids get to see some St Kilda success; ive shown some tough love and made sure they follow the Saints! ,!!

I have faith in the list,(Billings, Gresh, Coffield, Acres, Membrey, Battle, Stuv etc etc) hope off field is positive and smart as well..... game plan mystified last year as it did not adapt to what was happening or imprint

Was there for work last week, damn cold at this time of year. Especially as I had to go to Sapporo for a day, snow was metres deep!!

‘He’s already done a lot’: Slater’s immediate impact at AFL club

St Kilda midfielder Jack Steele says rugby league great Billy Slater is already having a profound impact in his new role and helped change the AFL club’s culture.
Slater last October was appointed to a newly-created part-time leadership role in the club’s football program.
And the Storm legend’s tweaks at the Saints are paying early dividends, according to Steele.

Slater Saints' secret weapon

“He’s already done quite a lot with our culture and our values around the club,” Slater told Fox Sports News.
“He’s played in quite a lot of successful sides in the last two decades. Having someone like him at the club is so helpful.”
Asked specifically what Slater had changed since arriving at Moorabbin, Steele said: “Just the way we get in the club and get things done. Our attitude towards training and meetings and stuff like that. A few little things that help us and help the young boys get things done properly.”

Second-year Saint Nick Coffield echoed Steele’s sentiments, saying Slater — a dual Storm premiership player, Dally M Medallist and two-time Clive Churchill Medallist — “knows what it takes to be an elite player”.
“He’s got so much knowledge, even though it’s in a different code,” Coffield told foxfooty.com.au.
“He’s given us little tips on things not to miss and things we should be doing in our first to four years. He said not to wait — if you’re good enough now then you can play.”
Steele said Slater had already worked closely with St Kilda’s emerging leaders group and planned to do more one-on-one work with him as the season progresses.
Despite his side’s disappointing ladder finish (16th with a 4-17-1 record), Steele had an excellent 2018 campaign, finishing third in St Kilda’s best and fairest and averaging a career-high 23.5 disposals.
After playing mainly as a tagger last year, Steele is keen to become a more proactive on-baller in 2019.
“I’m hoping to get a bit more freedom as a midfielder,” Steele said.
“In patches I’ll still tag and play on the opposition’s best mid, but we’ll work that out week to week.”
Despite ample external pressure on the Saints and coach Alan Richardson to bounce back from last season, Steele said there was an excellent vibe among the playing group.
“Everyone’s been training well and we don’t have too many injuries,” he said.
“We’re just keen to get the season started and prove a few people wrong.”
