Training watchers might be better placed to comment on this. Aside from Sandi and Bennell is there a case for some de-loading going on at the moment. With the Geraldton trip and some niggles popping up some players are probably being managed, ie Conca and Hamling for E.g. and JK at the other mob (as confirmed by Simpson).

The media like to jump all over an injury epidemic at Freo when there are a few guys on lighter duties or not visible at training. It is happening all over the place. Half of Hawthorn’s team seem to be in a de-loading or building phase depending on the individual programs - culminating in Wingate being pulled from the AFLX like Hamling.
Yes, last week it was very noticeable that there was a group which included Hamling were on managed minutes. At various times they would join in and drop out of the main group, sometimes just standing in the shade of the building and other times having a kick to kick with each other.

Just remembered we have a Geraldton based training reporter. Scatter it is your time to shine.
I'd love to do it but was busy at work, plus not sure when or where they are training. I know they only flew in yesterday (presume morning).
They did a kids clinic after school yesterday, then a coaches clinic.
They had a breakfast meeting this morning, though I think that was just Ross & Tendai & someone else.
So I'd say they might have trained today but it wasn't advertised (I've probably already missed it this morning).
Sorry! I know I love the training reports this time of year as much as anyone, so I am disappointed in myself!

Brad can't kick. He's an outside receiver because of a burst of pace into space which is his whole game.
Look at last years sprays by Brad.
His brother is a allrounder but has been below par because of niggles..13 games last year.

I am not so sure Brad can't kick but he was off target too often last year. As for Stephen, we all know he has been hampered for some time by that quad. I guess that is why he had the scar removal surgery. We can only hope it has a positive impact and he seems to be running reasonably well now. I just hope it lets him kick the ball as well as he used to!

These threads have always been about 60% breakfast discussion, 20% bad pun-making and 20% training reports. it is what it is.
I'm sure that in seasons' past there were references to vanilla slices on every page.

Fortunately most of those vanilla slices were served with lavishings of training reports. These days we need to make do with crumpets with promite.

Stephens twice the player Brad is imho.
Love Brad and what he brings to the team but at his best (when uninjured) I'd have Silly as a genuine A-grader, we just haven't seen enough of it over his career. No doubt Brad has the better career and it looks like it may well end that way too (Not that Silly's been bad by any means but it just wont come together for him for long periods and he's getting a bit older now, where as Brad's younger with 3x premierships and done well in B&F's too.)

Back to training though, hoping I can get down sometime next week. If I make it I'll be sure to pop my 2 cents worth up.

3 years ago, I would've agreed with you but not now.

based on talent alone? Or just the performances they've dished up? I'd say Brads definately been better for us over the past 2 years than Silly, having said that he does miss a lot more kicks, struggles to complete tackles and is a bit of a liability if drawn into a contest. Silly's a much more rounded player who imo has much neater skills as well and has a better 'turn of pace' where he explodes away with the ball. Brad has a higher top speed but not the agility/explosiveness around a contest which Silly has in spades.
