Environment Townsville floods

Looks like a bovine Jonestown up there. Time to stock up on steaks
All of those cattle were destined for live export. At least their progeny were.
Which you also don't approve of.
Your flippant comment really isn't appreciated and it also shows how little you understand of what, and how, food arrives on your plate.
People are losing their entire livelihood as you casually comment on an internet chat site. Millions of dollars, along with the heartache.
Hang your head.

By the way, and I know you don't give a f*** Gough , over 500,000 cattle are dead, countless people are going to go broke and an entire, vast region is suffering unbelievable pain and suffering.
Enjoy your steak, pal.

Got a bit flammy in here.

SOme of my work colleagues have lost everything in these floods. They are the closest people that I have to friends or family here in Townsville so my heart goes to him.

It aint all about cattle or cows Cough. People have lost their lives up here.

I'm one of the lucky ones. Very lucky ones.

A lot my students have lost everything.

Story up here is pretty sad. Even after the deluge.

Brissies turn ? Depending on where this cyclone ends up over the weekend of course.

I want some rain, lke 200mm or so
not 800....
Looks like we're going to get it. A few independent forecasters have said 400-600mm for my region. A lot of that will end up in the Brisbane River with the rest in the Burnett coming out at Bundaberg.
As usual, a drought will end with a flood. Heading to town tomorrow to stock up.

wonder if they will start to let water out of the dams....
?

They'll want to manage it better than last time. That was a disgrace.
Wivenhoe and Somerset dams are at 62 and 75% respectively, so there's a fair bit to fill, plus their flood capacites. However a huge rain event can make that happen easily.
Here's hoping they don't f*** it up again.

I've gone and put double 10 mm d shackles on my shade clothe
and tightened the existing ones.
Tomorrow I will clean the gutter and set up for pumping the overflow up the hill if it happens (hope it happens)

Predictions arent for a great deal here, we might just get lots of wind and well under 100 mm

All depends on the track of the big girl and no-one is sure yet.
Whatever it brings, I'll take it.

Amount of rain expected is probably more than i have seen in the last 15 years

Melbourne. We get 30mm a year
Obviously a typo, but you get around 650mm a year.
Some estimates are saying that we MAY get that over two days.
In 2011 and 2013 we got that in one night.
This isn't even close to what NQ got two weeks ago.

I dispute those figures. Rains once a month here

They're all on board now. Could be looking at nothing, not even a drop.
Nah, I asked what you were referring to when you said it was drifting north?
It hasn't changed course at all, you are referring to modelling 3 days out.
