I’ve read an article about the industry-wide issues with the current interconnected ad networks and dodgy ads getting slipped in.

Probably time to downgrade from mostly to occasionally.

I keep getting new tabs opening while on Bigfooty that have fake Microsoft Virus alerts.
Norton blocks most of them... only on Bigfooty.

If you can get screen grabs we can see domain names etc and block them.

I've been getting a bunch of these over the last couple of days too. I've given up reading the forums on my phone, it's a pain in the arse to keep deleting and reinstalling Chrome, plus god knows what else is being downloaded from whatever ad is doing this.

I've been getting this for days, now, too, only on Big Footy. On my iPad in Chrome and Safari. Driving me nuts!
