I just walked off a cliff after LMR told me to
The 25-year-old Giant also shares a close friendship with Hawthorn's Jaeger O'Meara and often stays with the former Sun and his housemate, Brownlow medallist Tom Mitchell, when in Melbourne.

but but but....they’re not really that close.
Gee what a talented bunch that is

1.2 a year is the figure that will be thrown around.

This is going to be another drawn out loooonng media saga.

Would have been smart to make Jags captain, surely then it gives Cogs more incentive to create something special with his best mate and captain? Although, given Tom could be fit again in 19 it’d be wrong not to have him ahead of Jags.

Either way, mission get Cogs at whatever cost needs to be successful.

New age footy... we really need a mid year trade period, players can have a 2 week break and clubs can trade their arses off. It would be great entertainment and would give clubs the chance to “sell” or “buy” depending on their positions.

Watch for Jaeger to get a contract extension and Cogs to put talks on hold within days/weeks.

I don't think we will be in a position to draft a 'good' KPP but I wouldn't mind betting Clarko and Co look at the rule changes in the U18 Comp 6-7 years ago and will take a risk to get a ready made KPP a few years down the track. See who is progressing well enough to make a play for.
If looking at all the No.1 or even high pick KPP of the last 5 years, there hasn't been 1 that has really transitioned into an outright star via the U18's.

Boyd - Bust
Scharenberg - injured
McCartin - Bust
Weitering - Carltoned but there is hope
Schache - Traded already Bust
2m Peter - doesn't look like it to me
Moore - can he get a run at it

Curnow is about the only one that looks good and he went at 12 so there is hope but the 4 in the 50 rule left it too open and made the big guys look so much better that their opponents 1on1. AFL is so different and they clearly haven't been able to bring their dominance into the AFL ranks, not yet anyway, so I see why midfielders are the focus for most teams now, us included if Cogs is the target.

Gws will be looking at other players to offload if need be, they have stacks of traedeble assets and most of those players are on good coin so it will have significant impact on what they offer Kelly and Cogs. Though, Cogs needs to want to stay up there first which is half the trick! We won’t die wondering though and chase him aggressively.
Other midfield options are Steven who I personally don’t rate that highly and Brad Crouch is going to wait and see how the crows 1) handle his injury 2) how the side travels. I actually rate Bouch a lot higher than most but so do the crows and tigers .

This is what I had mentioned a little while ago as a cost saver trade with the crows & had Cogs signing on with GWS anyway.
Crouch in our midfield would be a rather aggressive move to hardening up the middle with the other boys we have.
Cogs is great & has a go but a hard nut like Crouch alongside Tom & Jags would be pretty combative & daunting for any club to come up against.

Deledio and Heater will be both moved on and that will free up 1.2

Kelly will not be getting a pay rise after his last contract was off the charts.

As I mentioned in an earlier post Cogs will remain a Giant and I believe will sign a 2 year extension.

Happy Hump Day.

So what your saying is 'Operation COGs' will be running until 2022-23'. That's gonna be one loooooooong thread.

Imagine the melts if we land Coniglio and Tomlinson as FA's then Kelly requests a trade to us also.

They would be of biblical proportions, it would also close that premiership window of theirs firmly shut.

Make it happen GW!

Hopefully we're not being given the run around.

You see that’s the great thing about having JOM with us. We’ll know COGs won’t dick us around because of him. Unlike the Shiel scenario we’ll know if there is or isn’t a chance more than likely sooner than other suitors.
