Jake Patmore did his ACL recently at Port, good outside mid, HB. Could be cheap get next year, lure him home.

This one is over in the ultrathread draft thread edition - I asked the same question and it seems that he was playing pretty decent footy for the port 2s last year and coming along ok. Could think of worse choices for a rookie spot for sure

The thing with Cogs is this will be the exception to the rule. GWS will need to and happily pay overs / more to keep him than we would be prepared to pay to land him.

Kelly to Freo and Cogs to Eagles sounds pretty bloody good.

Just back end his contract post JK, Hurn, Jetta and Masto.

Freo will have the money and they should invest , Coniglio would be such a good player for any club and Freo will have the money .

Gaff signed on much less money than he would have got at Norf(Lol) - If Cogs was serious about coming home he'd do the same.

Watson then takes jetta's role

Sheed onto mastens wing

Allen and brander replace schoey

Coniglio in the wings make it happen

Kelly going to Freo would be ok, good for him and his family to get back home. He’s in a different position to your average draftee so the go home factor is a lot stronger. I’d like him obviously but not at the cost the Cats wanted last year, thankfully that didn’t go through. Cats wanted a very good player at rookie wages so they were never going to accept “fair” value, because the cap hit adds to the value of keeping him for one more year.

I think we’ll offer our first, or maybe a second and a player. If a deal doesn’t get done and he goes into the draft Freo won’t take him with their first, which will probably be a top 6-7 pick. So our first probably would get him in the draft or trade, either way so it doesn’t make sense to offer more.

If Cogs wants to come here we won’t have the cap space for both surely, if we even have the space for Cogs as it is.

I don't know why Nelson is training to be a midfielder if he has hopes of staying on the list. He'd be better off if he went back to being a medium defender, being depth and duking it out with Mutalisk - where he'd likely prevail. He's now in the crosshairs for delisting. Given Watson is looking like stepping in for Jetta in the short and long term, there's still need for depth in the small/medium defender department.

Matty Allen is goneski. Anus and Brayshaw got him covered. Their production will keep Allen from rising to the top of the the best of the rest.

Mutalisk only gets a reprieve if WC do a McInnes of sorts on him and figure that Hurn and Jetta don't have long to go. Given Hurn wanted to extend to the end of 2021 may mean Hurn's plan of playing on could be sufficient time to find a replacement the flying zerg. He's gone.

Masten + Nelson would equate to around the $600k mark to cover Kelly.

Jetta + Schofield would be around $700k. Add Mutimer and Ah Chee who would be on $150 each and replace them with draftees frees up another $150k.

Nic, Kennedy and Hurn will likely be taking small cuts.

It would be tight but we could sign Cogs on around $850/$900k same as Gaff, Yeo and Shuey, give him a five year contract and back end the last two years on over $1m per season.

I could see Nic Nat def taking a pay cut and even more so to bring his mate Congilio in.

Cant see Masten wanting a trade or us trading him but i think we will offer him a lot lower contract.

Masten is interesting player tbh. He’s 29 but is fit as fiddle probably could play well into his 30’s. That said I can’t see him wanting to leave the state or retire. Can see him doing a schoey if he loses his spot in the 22 and happily playing a couple years as a depth player for us in the 2’s.

Marsden loves the club and you'd think by now he knows he's on the fringe of our best 22.


You'd think he'd be happy taking a pay cut and being on 12 month contracts for the next couple of years to see out his footy career. Might finish on 225 odd games which would be a fair achievement.

Hopefully the club doesn't fall into the trap of giving him any longer than 12 months after this season.
