Ruined the win, hurts a lot, but don’t think it will ruin our season. Our backline is still relatively good (as opposed to being great), and still have genuine A-grade players and high end B-graders across the field. Gonna be tough but our team has amazing chemistry, we still have a shot

Pretty damn brutal this, tbh.

People say we are kissed on the dick with injuries. But I say that's bullshit.
We've had some pretty damned horrible luck in the recent past.
Recruit Nathan Brown, dominates then breaks his leg badly, just ten games in.
Mark Coughlan our best midfielder in ages, career destroyed by injury not long into it.
Ditto Nathan Foley not long after.
Richo almost wins a Brownlow then next year rips his hammy off the bone.

We finally were having the same kind of luck that premiership and CONSECUTIVE premiership teams all had and REQUIRE, and that is having your best 22-23 all fit for a decent and prolonged period.

But that luck deserted us in game 24 of a dominant season with Astbury sick and Dusty with an INFECTED knee, and the very next game we lose the best defender of the decade right after recruiting that key forward we needed to complete the puzzle.

Trolls can **** the absolute hell off, have some decency - this is savage, savage luck and just the worst possible timing imaginable, and a real kick in the guts for our highly deserved chances.

****.

Some dog Carton supporters were booing him off the ground F*&^ing low life scum

Nah mate, ur wrong. They were booing the fact the flipping umpire couldn’t decide whether it was holding the ball or deliberate out of bounds in the pocket so decided it was a flipping throw in[emoji849] straight after the contest Rance injured himself in.

Shocking luck, feel for you guys. Don’t care what others think whether he plays on the best forward or not, just an incredible player and athlete.

I know what I heard and they were booing him as he was going off the ground

Was numb for a bit, but the magnitude is starting to set in. Heartbreaking.

Let's be honest at his age he probably doesnt have too many seasons to win another flag, we cant stay up forever.

Could LARS be an option to try and get him back this year? Is that even possible?

It does feel like were it not for some bad luck and one shocking game we should have been celebrating back to back and looking at the real shot at a 3-peat this year.

We missed the B2B and now it seems like 2019 just got a whole lot less likely.

I have a feeling he's going to give it all away, I hope I'm wrong but he could easily walk away and not look back.
Who know's what he's thinking but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Did you see his interview after the game? Or him celebrating us winning? He isn’t going anywhere

Will be 30 next year. I dont think he will want to go out like this. I see him coming back next year and playing at least one more for a last roll of the dice for another flag or maybe, maybe two more seasons to end of 2021 and then that's it.

sorry to hear about the loss of Rance if it is the ACL. I still think you are a flag favourite. You guys have been very fortunate the last 2 years on the injury front which is a credit to the medical team there. Most teams have these injuries, for Melbourne it was Lever doing his Acl and Viney missing basically a season of footy but we got to the finals for the first time in 12 years so I sure you guys will comfortably cover the loss of rance

Completely ruined the win for me.
Garth is definitely a capable defender so I will definitely enjoy watching him in his place, small silver lining I guess.
Sometimes a good fast tracking is a bonus in the future.
The poor bastard has been injured this preseason. I'm sure his hand will be up though

Saints snapping up Marsh and Garthwaite interrupted pre season have spannered the works a bit for us here. Don't know if Chol could be an option to go back after the success of similar types Daw and Aliir in defence in recent seasons. He played a season there in the VFL I think without setting the planet on fire, but should be more mature now. Balta looks physically up to it but may struggle yet tank wise and is very raw. Garthwaite when right after injury gives us an option otherwise we will need to scour the leagues to see if anyone is available. With the 6-6-6 rule you would think being exposed deep key defence is about the worst thing that can happen. Look forward to seeing what path we follow and how the replacement develops.
