Would love to have Cho add another bow to his coaching, by giving Parker a 5 minute run in the guts every so often. Then we’ll see how quick the Bombers midfielders attack the ball ...... or not. Reckon Kent has to stay, fumbled it a bit, but I put that down to trying to hard for his new club. Wouldn’tmake wholesale changes this week, maybe Marshall for Pierce, either Acres or Clark for Dunstan & Brown for either Wilkie or Joyce (both would be unlucky) Another week in the two’s for the other borderline players makes them even hungrier,
I think Marshall has to play and brown will come back in, I’m not sure there will be any more changes maybe dunstan misses out.

Who goes out of Joyce and Wilkie is an easy one for me Wilkie was flawless and has a cannon for a leg, Joyce is a big improver but he’s still learning and gave away 5 free kicks and imo was lucky it wasn’t more.

I'd be hesitant to make too many changes. I like stability, especially after a win

I reckon Joyce could be a nice match up for McKernan and I like Battle for Stringer. So Brown misses for mine.

The area of concern is their mids, so Clark in for Kent as a high HF / extra mid rotation option.

Id give Pierce one more. I don't want us going back to chopping and changibg week in week out.

Saints by 8 points against an angry methendon seeking to save face.

Edit - on 2nd thoughts kent gets another opportunity. Maybe dunny for Hunter

Out: Long, Mckenzie, Dunstan, Pearce, Battle/Wilkie
In: Young, Clark, Acres, Marshall, Brown

Sorry, Mckenzie and Long have to come out after the shocking performance, both gave away stupid free kicks and not good enough yet. Pitty one of Battle/Wilkie needs to come out.. as both of them played alright..
You want 5 dropped from a winning team. Lol.

A question to anyone, who is the inside mid to get 8 clearances and 13 CP's out of Acres, Clark, Coffield, Armo, Phillips, or Paton?

Savage is a one trick pony. Sat lose behind the play chasing kicks, is unaccountable and his work rate is terrible. Needs to go.. Webster would benifit having Savage out of the side as well. If Coffield is fit he is the ideal replacement for Savage.

If Coffield can find form. Savage was poor but I'm not sure it isn't trying to interpret a new game plan.

Sav is out for me, Clark in for him. Only other changes i'd look at making would be Acres in for Sinkers and probably Marshall in for Pierce. Long is lucky for mine

72% TOG is not his call....It's the coaches and has been the last couple of years! How is it appalling? And how does him being at the club for 6 years
Got anything to do with the price of fish?

18 possies..2nd most contested...7 tackles and that desperately inspired save at the death all in roughly 3 quarters of work is not bad going
And he was only just going today! I just don't get all the Dunny hate when we all need one and when he clearly bleeds for the club!
I think because he is not flashy. He wasn't great but he has a specific job and in conjunction with Ross and Steven and Steele won the clearances. Needs to tidy up the disposal, but saying Acres or Clark for him is plain silly.

I liked Joyce's game and think he could be even better with Brown in there to mind the no.1 forward. Here's how I'd swing things:
In: Marshall Brown
Out: Pierce Kent

Battle goes forward. The emergence of Wilkie may have just eliminated the need for Battle to go back. He will now have the tools to swing back there when required. Kent unlucky but he was our weakest player aside from Pierce. Dunstan just holds his spot for that massive contest in the fourth, Acres and Clark breathing down his neck though.

I wrote in the other thread that I think we lose that game if not for Dunstan CP and Clearences, but.... they mostly negated GC from taking possession and didn’t give us clear position. We aren’t making top 4 with that so I’d like to see us try to develop another option. I’d like to see acres, long and Parker spend some more time in there. If it doesn’t work then Dunstan will still be there to play the role. More then happy for him to hold his place though if he’s the only one who can play the role as it’s about the team performance not the indervidual.

My possible changes in order of preference would be,

Joyce for Brown
Pierce for Marshal
Sav for Clark
Acres for Dunstan

Our team won't gel and build consistency as a group if we keep rotating them. I'm seeing people suggest like 3 to 4 changes, its only been round 1. Give it like 2 to 3 weeks unless suspensions and injuries or just atrocious form.

The only change I would make is Marshall for Pierce. Brown for Wilkie or Joyce. We lack experience down back with Carlisle and Robbo out, so brown is needed. Wilkie and Joyce were admirable but it's best for the team.

One of those changes needs to happen
Underrated post about consistency and continuity.

I think while Stuv is still reaching full fitness and spending a decent amount of time forward, we need Dunstan in the midfield for his contested work.
Second in the team for contested possessions and clearances.
The common remark is that he is too similar to Ross and Steele, but the stats show that he is a much better contested player than the other two and him getting the ball first is helping Steele and Ross with their outside games.

Ross yes.

But what stats show that Dunstan is a much better contested player than Steele?

Steele was slightly ahead of Dunstan in terms of contested touches last year and that's despite him playing out of position for the first half. I think he proved in the second half of the year he's a very good inside bull.

lots of changes after a win is unusual and won't ever happen, BUT the reason people are calling for them is because we picked the wrong team to start with, and individual performances prove this.

Dunstan, people were calling for Clark. 18 touches, 70% TOG, Clark will produce similar results. He will get a few less CPs, but will hit some beautiful passes that lead to goals, and we'll be getting senior games into him.

Pearce, people wanted marshal, Marshal's form has been stellar for sandy, he gets as much of the ball as a midfielder and isn't much worse than pearce for hit outs, deserves a run.

Acres, coming back from injury, will clearly make our team better.

Brown, the same (suspension), will allow us to send Battle forward which is needed.

consistency is great, but don't double down on the wrong 22, get the right guys in and THEN build consistency.

But it won't happen, because we started the year playing dunstan over clark, and dunstan will do his dunstan thing and clog up our midfield for another few months before cho pulls the trigger

Any reason why posters are so obsessed with converting forwards into midfielders re Parker he could be a 30 - 40 goal season player & his speed height and aggression is needed in the forward line leave him there he probably has never even played midfield before.
Probably because our midfield lacks speed while our forward line has a few more options for small/mediums.

Ross yes.

'much better contested player' re Steele is the wrong wording. I mean that having him in the team on the bottom of the pack allows Steele (and Ross) to be a more balance player and impact around the ground more than if he was getting crunched at the bottom of the pack.

I'd be happy with that if Dunstan was actually getting elite contested numbers, but he hasn't. He averaged less that 10 contested possessions last year, which for a guy that does little on the outside, is just not good enough. He needs to either get that number closer to 15, or improve his outside work. The latter will be harder.

He had 13 yesterday which isn't a bad start and may see him get a game next week bit overall it was a fairly average game for him.

I sat behind the goals, Kents first two shots were OOTF. He looked slow and loose. Was like Mav without the running.

I was calling him new Mav from about half-way through the second quater. He was legit terrible, the only redeaming act was the clutch goal. We shouldn't keep him in just because he's a recruit, bring GOAT in for him.

I don't think there will be wholesale changes

Brown, Marshall & Clarke in

Dunstan, Pierce and Wilkie

Think they will give Acres a full VFL game before we see him.

I don't think you can underestimate how big the inclusion of Brown will be. Joyce was our most experienced tall AFL defender on the weekend with 3 games under his belt. Wilkie and Battle both playing their 1st games down back.

I'd slide joyce to CHB, Brown at FB and battle as the floater

All I want is Hunter Clark in, don’t even care for who.

On Marty Parker, we need to appreciate he’ll be a roller coaster ride. Whoever is expecting a performance like that every game of the season will be left disappointed.

If he can have an impact like he did against GC in every 3-4-5 games I think that’s a huge positive. The first game where he has 6 possessions and a behind please don’t call for him to be dropped. How good was his side steps, running with the ball, flair etc!!!

My dad is a huge fan of Long because of his aggression, MP’s game yesterday was a benchmark for what he should be looking to become.

Really excited by our forward line mix now, defence unfortunately is a given but if we can improve on our midfield with Acres/Clark/Hannebery over the course of the season then it’ll put us in good stead for next seasons imo.

Probably because our midfield lacks speed while our forward line has a few more options for small/mediums.
Rule 1 never move a winning position on the field to try & win in another position, like i said we won the center clearance yesterday leg speeds not the issue in center bounces contested ball is needed, leg speed is needed around the ground from ball ups & throw ins midfielders are not the ones that need leg speed it's outside players not inside players.

That kick from outside 50 to hit Gresham 10m out from goal was a huge highlight.

Hasn't Acres played 2 vfl games now?

So the 50 plus metre pass to Gres that hit him on the tit in the goal square was nothing.

Jesus, guy has played one game and getting bagged out. Was happening to Long in his debut season also.
