Let's keep playing Fasolo, he is too good to be playing for the ressies, yes he has to probably lift his game, but he is one of those weird players that could easily kick 4 or 5 sausage rolls out of nowhere.

Don't think dropping him would do much for his confidence or self-esteem, we have to remember he hasn't played much afl level footy in the last 12 months, I say let him find his feet and work his way into form (which will happen sooner rather than later)

Loathe to drop any of the boys, that was a committed 4 quarter effort by the team, for team morale I would keep an unchanged lineup except for poor Charlie.

Don't change the team we have no obvious outs or ins and the guys need to learn to play together. Last year because of form and Injury our squad was a revolving door FINALLY we get some consistent cohesion forming and we want to change it for the sake of doing so which is probably some lasting PTSD from post-games last season.

Keep the team the same until they perform to an unacceptable level.

Garlett isn't a defender either. But apparently the club has hopes he can become one. Or maybe he is simply the least worst alternative we have to keep the seat warm. Take your pick.

One thing I am pretty sure of is that if and when he is moved back forward, he is going to be a far better small forward for the experience. Yes it's only JLT, but when he was given a brief run forward late in JLT2 he looked an entirely different player than we saw last year. More composed, more involved, harder at the contest, more repeat efforts.
Ok, let me rephrase. He is playing in defence.

How we set up our forwardline in the absence of Charlie & also Grundy will be interesting. McKay could be in for a big game against Aliir / Melican.

Could try to stretch them by going super tall with Casboult alongside McKay, but that could backfire badly. They'd cut us up the other way & Casboult might just get in McKay's way & spoil his run of form.

I'd bring in Silvagni & surround McKay with smaller marking targets in McGovern, Silvagni & Fasolo (who has shown himself capable in the air in the past, if not at Carlton)

Jones?? What Carlton are you watching lately? The guy is a rock.

Losing 30% of his one on ones is okay by me. Our two key posts in Weitering and jones are first picked after Cripps imho.

Cuningham’s injured and I’d be amazed if we rushed Marchbank straight back in

First game I get to see live for the year. Can't wait.
Me too. Travelling over as captains club member. I finally get to hang out with the real supporters. I’m also hitting up the GF replay at the G later that night.

Almost 100 less disposals against port with identical numbers in contested possessions.

Are players working hard enough to create options? Are we too stop-start? How many games do we expect to win with that sort of differential?

Simpson is not much better and Thomas is better than both in general play but runs out of legs against faster younger opposition - should be playing forward pocket. btw - sick of seeing Murphy and Simpson have their on field 'private conversations' only to proceed to play to each other ignoring other players and options and STUFFING each play up - time is about up fellas.

Must admit this has annoyed me for a while. It just appears as if the older blokes Simpson, Murphy, thomas (used to be Gibbs as well) ‘wax’ the Ball. Younger blues are doing better, older blokes have to back them in.

Bsst game for Cam Polson tonight! he has it all but thinks too much (has brains too)..he will be the player we need!!
Unlikely, but he will be handy if he stops shitting himself when it comes to gaining and making use of possession.

Move Ed Curnow in the middle and bring in another small like Lebois, i will say it again my opinion is we lack speed around the ground...we look slow motion....Garlett should be moved forward, LOB as an in staight in the backline...polson as an out for a Schumacher if avail, can also chop out phillips in the ruck.

We get smashed on the outside/uncontested. We don't have the skilled flankers who can run, carry and pass the ball around.....enter or develop obrien, lang, schumacher

It surprises me how common it is on this board for people to go out looking for the head to hunt to make room to bring in their favorite players - often with no justification at all for the axing, and sometimes with reasoning which is quite bizarre.

What this Club needs more than anything else to start winning games and moving up is continuity and cohesion. Instinctive understanding of where your team mate is, and what he is going to do next. Having the belief to go to where he should be without looking to see if he is there.

That is developed by backing the guys we have identified as best 22 to do the job until proven otherwise.

We can't be about flicking a player for one mediocre game, or for not developing fast enough in their role (so long as some development is seen).

There are only three reasons for us to make changes at this time. Injury, chronic loss of form (including fatigue), or a player at the lower level demanding selection through consistent quality performance.

Possible changes will be interesting this week

MK for Phillips, MK may need a hitout at VFL level

Does Levi, Kerr or Jack come in for Charlie? I would pick Levi if Phillips is still in the side, Kerr or Jack if MK is back

Kennedy will step back in, probably for Fasolo, then play Thomas or Garlett forward

From my observation we have too many bodies going at the ball in tight. Part of this is due to the smaller immature bodies meaning we need more numbers at the contest to win the footy. But it leaves us in trouble when extracting the ball as we lack spreaders and sweepers outside the contest. It is also why we typically get beat on the spread defensively.

Same goes for marking contests, however was less obvious yesterday. Generally we will have too many fly in the air and nobody to hit the ball at ground level and extract.

This should get better when the bodies develop and we can start trusting more guys to win their one on one battles.

We need some hardened bodies for this and Sydney not super pacy. Really tempted to consider Cas, but we’re really not playing for finals so future team cohesion leads me to

Out - Charlie, Fasolo
In - Silvagni, Kennedy

Silvagni can play forward and mid, Kennedy another one we need in those midfield rotations.
