McGovern would be a huge loss. Charlie and Cuningham would be game changers if fit.

Id love to see Jack and Kennedy back in the 22.

Any games we get out of Kruezer would be a bonus at this point. Love to see it but not holding my breath.

How do we get these guys in while keeping our future core in the 22? Dropping Simpson and Murphy is clearly nonsense, but you'd want to give you guys like O'Brien more than one week in the seniors.
Polson, Gibbons, Lobbe and Casboult can all make way if Krezuer and Charlie are fit and Kennedy and SOS are selected.

2019 v 2018 averages
+1 disposal
+1 clanger
= score involvements
-1 score assist (going at 0)
+1 tackle
-8% efficiency

He's just not having the same impact so far.
Agree, definitely want to see him more outside.
+1.4 clearances (up 42%)
+0.5 tackles (up 14%)
+4.5 contested possessions (up 57%)

Demonstrates a clear change in role. As with Ed playing more forward and Murphy not going to the stoppages this move might casue some short term pain but will have long term benefits.

Gold Coast was looking like an east beat team, not so much now, they can't be taken lightly and will be expecting to win as much as us.

For us there are lot of players you could easily drop out. Polson, Gibbons, O'Brien and Casboult don't deserve to play this match but with a few injuries and lack of talent in these areas we will struggle to replace them so many of them probably will.

B: Plowman Jones Newman
HB: Thomas Weitering Simpson
C: Walsh Cripps O'Brien
HF: Murphy McKay Silvagni
F: Curnow Kerr Casboult
OB: Kreuzer Fisher Fisher
IC: Kennedy Setterfield SPS Dow

IN
Kerr - Chance to play as a key forward in the absence of McGovern and Curnow. VFL form has been alright.
Silvagni - VFL form as a forward/mid has been alright, chance to play that role at AFL level.
Kennedy - Ok VFL form, would like to see him play a role on the opposition's number 1 extractor like what Josh Kennedy did to Cripps.
Kreuzer - If he is fit that is other wise Phillips.

OUT
Polson - Didn't touch the footy, didn't do anything. Consistency isn't anywhere near it yet.
McGovern - Hamstring injury, no surprise after just an average preseason, he's not fit enough, rest up then back in.
Gibbons - deserved a chance after a good run in the JLT. Has not fired a shot, should have kicked a few against Port the other week but didn't. Kicking is poor and isn't finding the ball or the goals.
Lobbe - He was poor, looks slow and lacking in athleticism.

MISSING
Docherty, Williamson, McGovern, Curnow, Cuningham, DeKoning.

It's a slow forward line and we're missing small forwards but truth is we don't have them on our list. This will be a tough game because they are going alright and we have a lot out. We're going to have to dominate the contest and work hard to get the job done here.

I certainly hope at least one of Cuningham, Curnow or McGovern is fit and can play instead of Kerr.

I'd like nothing more than for Brendan Bolton to turn things around and show his wares with a strong win over an opposition that by rights, should be winning the wooden spoon this year.

But I can't see it happening on current form. I'm afraid the blowtorch is going to be squarely on the performance of our coaching panel come next Monday

Here he is!

Murphy and Thomas forward. Kennedy and Gibbons to the middle.

Seems obvious to me.

Agreed. The current coaching group seems particularly reluctant to make such changes, however, and once pigeon-holed (or shoehorned) into certain roles, players appear to seldom be moved reactively if things aren't working. I'm not sure if this is in fear of upsetting the 'system' or process ('Thomas trained with the defensive group all pre-season, we can't move him now!'), but there often appears to be little in the way of structure anyway... so I can't see how such changes aren't at least worth a go.

Extraordinary amount of panic in this thread. We have looked so much better in our three games this year than at just about any point last year. Elite young core that just haven’t been able to put it together for four quarters yet.

The only thing I’m concerned about is not having our first pick but from an actual play perspective I’m feeling pretty good.

If we lose this game, I think Bolton needs to be sacked since our list is clearly better than Gold Coast's.

Right now we are slipping from pick 3 to pick 6. I am not too fussed.

I agree about our games, last year at least one of those games would have ended in a big loss but we fought back in every game.

Remember last year we had lost to Richmond, North and Collingwood all by 4 goals or more.

No way Casboult goes out and Lobbe stays in.

Lobbe took just 2 marks while Casboult took 6 and really hurt some swans players with the way he launched at the ball.

Agree. Would point out a couple of things. Do we really need another pick #1? And...you’d think SOS is hard at it finding a couple of excellent mature players looking for other opportunities. We will be playing FA market hard

That's a really top-heavy set of ins..

I like that bolts stuck to his guns on the weeken and kept, ed, murph and gibbons out of the middle to give the kids a real crack. But we also want and need to win. I said at 3qtr time we need to get murph and ed up the ground on the weekend, we did and it go us back in it. what is the point of leaving 2 of our best 3 ball winnners deep forward, leaving it to cripps and a couple of kids to compete with seasoned midfields.

Also why are we so hell bent on everyone playing either forward, mid or back. why cant daisy or simmo pinch hit in the middle. Marchbank onto a wing. Seem hell bent on playing ourway regardless pf the situation.
