I think Phillips could well be (at this early stage) a victim of the 6-6-6 rule. Needs to be way more accountable under the new rules and as shown by Geelong, he is very exploitable. He needs to develop the capacity to influence in other positions because we need to be able to move him if that does occur.
I'm not really sure how 6-6-6 would affect him negatively. If anything it increase the amount of running a wingman needs to be able to cover and thus advantages him.

I rate him as a wingman and think he's really important for transition, but think he's a chance of being the victim of only having the skill set to play wing and there being a long line of blokes at our club who are best suited to playing wing - Phillips, Mayne, Sidebottom and I think it's where Pendles belongs now too, even Crocker. Plus if all our forwards are fully fit, the addition of Eliott has to push Stephenson or WHE into vying for that position.

Aish is an inside mid and should be used in Greenwood role.Aish is a natural footballer who needs more responsibility onball

I know they don't play the same position, but I can't justify Varcoe being out of the side and Aish in. Aish is an ok player. He has been solid and playing a decent defensive role. He just isn't doing enough for me though.

Different Postion.

When someone from the Backline come in like Issac then Aish MIGHT be dropped

As Mike123 just pointed out on another thread - Varcoe is a defensive option - he's played some pretty good footy there.

Yes Varcoe can.
Appelby might be in the frame too.

Just need to get our team functioning in a better gear.
We’re grinding the gears as opposed to smooth gears.

We’ll get there.

Mayne, Sidebottom and Adams are all currently in the 22 and capable of playing a half back role to the standard of Aish too.

I actually think one of our “superstar” mids needs to become a permanent fixture elsewhere in the team for balance, and only run midfield minutes when we need to change things up. Sidebottom and Beams could surely both play a forward pocket or half forward flank, they showed an aptitude for it early in their careers?

Aish needs his confidence built up.

He would add a lot more value if took the game on more with his two best assets which are his marking and kicking.

Anyway, like most of our young guys, he is a work in progress and its good to have a few options to work with in the backline.
The perpetuation of the myth that he's an excellent user by foot is staggering.

It's amazing how long players keep the reputation earned in a draft profile. Our opinions are formed from reading a paragraph that is probably based on watching a guy play junior footy a handful of times and then we ignore the evidence that we see with our own eyes in their first 100 games of AFL.

I saw more then just an Article and he still shows Flashes of what made him Highly Rated Junior

I thought i saw flashes of elite awareness and composure, but I now think that i just read he had these attributes and thus looked really hard for them and imagined something that wasn't there. I now see only super clean hands a decent contest and not much else.

Good Tackler and Strong Mark for his Size. Quick Hands.

I just think his Biggest Weakness is his Kicking Time be Huge Slow Up and Unders.

Looks good when Playing on Quickly but when time to think he can take Easy Option or Just Bombs it

Not sure IF Gameplan or Confidence or Even something else

At least Howe can fairly often execute what one would call an 'elite' pass by foot. But his kicking three rounds in has been bloody poor, no doubt.

Kicking under no pressure I would pick Aish over Howe every day of the week

I’d rather take the kick myself than rely on either of them tbh

Funny you say that, Aish to me is just a poor man’s Lockyer.

A very, very poor man.

I have always said Aish is an average player......it would be nice if he became a good average player. It’s possible IMO.

I don’t disagree.

I didn’t think the sky was falling in on Saturday with his game. **** me though definitely have to reinforce that he needs to find a way to actually become a danger in a game. We lose so much opportunity to generate drive by him playing nil all draws at best against the opposition’s worst forward.

I agree.......I would like your post but I have lost my powers.
