There’s no doubt he makes a huge difference but we need someone for the long term and way too early to make a call on TDK......ruck is a conundrum for us.

Have a feeling we should've gone after Preuss. At the time I thought bah, we don't need him, Phillips isn't bad and we've still got Kreuzer. Even Lobbe had a few good games last season.I dont think its too early to make the call on TDK. He is a brody grundy clone when he bulks up. Absolutely outstanding around the ground and a good footy brain. I am very bullish about him. He is about 2-3 from regular senior footy though (unless he has a drastic change in body shape).
What we need more than anything is a 27yo ruck that is not as useful as a (insert offensive comment here). Now, the issue is there are almost no FA rucks other than tom nicolls who hasnt played for a year.
We desperately need a body to fill the gap.
I agree we need to look at a ruck but don’t right off Kruezer just yet. Looks as good as I have seen him and will make a difference to us when he comes in. Still has 2-3 seasons IMO
That may be the case. That theory would be more comforting if Casboult wasnt selected in the 18.
The Casboult selection is one of my gripes true. I think its a poor selection for the following reasons.
1. The obvious issue is he makes our side too tall, too slow, too cumbersome.
2. He really isnt AFL standard. 17 clubs could have had him for free. 17 clubs said no thanks. Why? Because hes a poor footballer, even if he does have some highly visible commendable qualities. And he cant kick.
3. He's too similar to McKay. Theres no point of difference, and they compete for the same positions. It makes us one dimensional forward when theyre together.
4. Our forward defense is already poor. He makes it diabolical.
5. And lastly, but most importantly, he took McKays job. What people dont understand is that while McKay is developing well as a forward, its just as important for McKay to get as much time as possible playing in the ruck. He needs the opportunity and we need to give it to him. Hes our future relief ruckman and when we're competing he needs to be competitive.

Now though...
I don't totally disagree, but this is my concern
Let's say McGovern doesn't come up but Charlie does, our key marking options are then Harry and Charlie. When Harry goes into the ruck as a 7 or so minute chop out for Lobbe that leaves Charlie alone at the key target. We saw last year how detrimental that was, Charlie would get double and tripled teamed in marking contest
Is that the structure we want?
2-3 seasons? Based on what? He'll need to play until 45 to get another 2-3 seasons.
I think he is one more injury interrupted season from being at the end.
Would love nothing more than him to play 60 games in the next 3 years. I literally have more chance of winning lotto than that happening.
Once North bomb this year, we could take goldy as a 1-2 yr rental..he is worth HUGE money to their cap. He is a bit of a trouble child though.
Bloody hell. He's 29 and really fit. Russell will get him right. Not exactly past it. How quickly people forget
He could easily play until he's 32-33
Fair enough. There arent a lot of options in the 27-30 age group who could come in to play a good role for a couple years.I'd pass on Goldstein, he is well and truly cooked.
We should throw the cheque book at young freo ruckman Sean Darcy when he comes out of contract, he will be one of the best rucks over the next decade.
The kicking would be nice. I think the fact he is terrified of physical contact might hold him back. There is a more obvious guy for this... Lochie...
So, you think his past history has no bearing on the future? Interesting.
Sorry I won't be moving past Kreuzer when his replacements are barely AFL standard.I’ve come to the conclusion that we have to move past Kruezer. It’s 4 weeks in and nearly 9 months since his last game. He gets injured getting out of bed! True warrior but too unreliable.
Add ruckman to our list of small forwards and small defender.

The problem i have with Casboult is that he epitomises mediocrity. I’ve had it up to here with him missing goals he should kick and going missing for big chunks of games. That may be the case. That theory would be more comforting if Casboult wasnt selected in the 18.

whilst I haven't written him off either, and rate Russell highly as well.. history in not irrelevant..History is irrelevant. It's the now and the future that matters. On a new program and looks and feels great. Thinks he can play at a high level for a few years yet

Eskie's all over the "que" words Robbo. Verified in a dictionary.Yes it is! Peaked as in peak means you’ve attracted my attention.![]()
Assumption that an injury prone player suddenly becomes bullet proof, makes less sense..Makes no sense to me.

He’s had so many opportunities for someone of his capabilities it’s ridiculous. It’s time to move on, or we risk his mediocrity infecting the whole group.
