Jones last mark... that was a mark and the umpires were trying their hardest to get the suns to win. You have to laugh - the difference between Dow being a super star or a hated player (as he is apparently by some posters today) - is just a bit of composure. Getting closer to a win each week - this week it was 10 seconds away - just because a mark to Jones wasn't paid. Still - some composure as displayed by Walsh from Fisher/Dow/Setterfield/LoB - would have made it a comfortable win instead of a diabolical loss.

So many easy opportunities to win this one in a canter and so many of same just blown by inability to execute basic skills.

While the game plan/coaching and use of the ball leaves a lot to be desired there were positives amongst the heartbreak..

Effort. Big tick.

Defence is solid (jones,weiters, marchbank, daisy, Newman etc). Tick

Walsh, SPS, Fisher are guaranteed 10+ year players.

We have the best captain/player in the league in Cripps.

McGovern looks like an astute pick up.

While I'm gutted and have serious concerns, we have to acknowledge what went right also.

I'm not suggesting that Bolton instructed them to target Gibbons, but what would make the players do that? Has he lost them? I can't believe half of what I saw today... it was awful.

Basically they look up and see a one on one and go to it and/or they saw Gibbons creating the most movement. Our forwards weren't demanding the ball aside from a brief spell from McGovern. Maybe Bolts could have told Gibbons to stop leading because he was like a 5 foot magnet to our unthinking midfielders.

We are now the joke of the AFL like Fitzroy circa 1995.

Shits got to change. Coaching right through to players coming in who have no skill at AFL level.

We also have way too many players who are nice and don't have that win at all costs throw your body at everything desire and will to beat their opponent no matter what the outcome.
If the forward structure proviso was to bomb it to Gibbons then we really need help in the coaches box.

Time to try some things Blues get some players up in the seniors that actually earned a spot Jack,Kennedy,Kreuzer etc should be given a run and can have stints through the middle to help Cripps.
