Bolton will coach all year

What if we go into the break 0-11 or 0-12 (I dont think we will by the way). I personally favour a change mid year if there is going to be one because if you change in round 17 you can get a dead cat bounce with effort for 5 weeks and then end up appointing a caretaker off that dead cat bounce. Use half a year to trial someone like Teague whilst looking at all options.

Though hopefully things click in the next few weeks and this becomes a dead issue.

3 wins and 35 losses.

Are you serious this isn't something to be concerned about? Kind of like walking into the ER missing a limb and a nurse being like "chill it is all good you still have 3 out of 4"
So what is your concern? Because we clearly have improved on last year. And we will continue to. Its how a rebuild works

I don't work in what ifs, I prefer tangible strategies

Bolton will remain as our coach as long as we are improving our competitiveness and consistency, which had been the case compared to last year

If there is to be a change ( I don't believe there will), it will be at the end of the year

Yeah I reckon he had a brain fade and got sucked in towards the congestion..
It was the first thing I noticed.after the goal was kicked..
Yeah I saw it on the replay. He was dead set in o mans land. Exactly the same as not being on the rope in cricket and the ball going over your head.

I'm sorry but that's complete garbage. I was watching with crew of fans from all allegiances and that game was an abomination. A win would have made very little difference to the tone of this discussion. Gold Coast played terribly, and we somehow out did them.

I'm hearing an emergency board meeting has been called tonight at CFC HQ.
Yeh
So how’d the meeting go?

Are you making that up sky? Because I watched Bolton’s presser and he didn’t say anything at all about bombing to our fwds.
The only concern for me is that he said he doesn’t want the ball to go into our fwds too quick or at least that’s the way I understood it. If so that makes my head spin...listen to Wayne Carey about getting the ball in quick to your fwds...he’s a dick and all but one of the greatest chf of all time so I pay attention when he’s talking about how the ball should go in to your forwards.
I think when he says not too quick he means look before you kick and maybe take a half step in motion just to get some balance and thereby have some control over the weight of the kick. There was a lot of kicks by stationary players to another stationary player. Its a very bad habit they have learnt from somewhere........

This year reminds me of Brisbane last year. Competitive almost every week

Yep I agree with this. We've improved no doubt. Still yesterday was very frustrating though.

Has Matt Kennedy been wrapped up in the Israel Folau saga after liking his post?
Interesting!

We said the same thing re: winning more games in the second half of the season.

The reality is with such a young team, we’re more likely to capitulate as the squad tires.

Depressing.
This is where Russell will be fantastic for us. Its going to take him a full 12 months (maybe longer) to get our boys AFL ready.

I would trial David Teague rest of year. He has gone through the proper pathway of senior coach. senior player - best and fairest - worked under pagan, ratten, captain coached bullants to grand final assistant coach at west coast, st kilda and adelaide. has all the credentials for a trial.

Dow's kicking

Paddy has gone from rushing, not balancing before kicking, to now balancing but over thinking and not being natural in his motion

While he was never a great kick, nor will he ever be, but he will improve dramatically on his last couple of weeks

Hip flexor injury prior to Xmas hasn't helped either

Nope a mixture of 2nd year Blues and being poorly coached. Today is the first time has been asked to lower his eyes - otherwise he is the type of player that wants to take on the world to score a goal. You harness that - he is only 19 yo with a poor coach - Samo had a fairly quiet 2nd year as well. Fish seems to be going downhill if he doesn't lift in his third year.
I was really hoping Dow woulf have had a shot after he came flying out of the middle. I remember one Patrick Dangerfield butchering the ball alot like Dow in his first couple of years of footy.

Actually it isn't. Something like F off Bolts or sack them all now or burn the club - yep ruins discussion. Pointing out that this is a very bad loss and disgraceful does not ruin discussion. Perhaps take your fingers out of your ears and hear the facts - 3 wins and 35 losses. Lost to a club everyone on this Board thought at the start of the year was well behind us. We need to stop sugar coating how bad the situation is. That doesn't mean you react by sacking people - but you need an honest and sober assessment,
No, what we need is less people like you that join up just to put the boots in and after a few posts are telling all here what is a good discussion and what isn't, in such a well versed manner.

Some people would question Gibbon's value to the team. Got a feeling this guy will grasp the pace of afl and become a cult figure for CFC. If delivery is not over his head (and has some luck), he will put some 3-4 goal games in this season.
He needs to be moved to the midfield. We might as well bring Garlett in and play him as a small forward. Shame that Pickett is injured.

You want to sack the coach, and promote the assistant responsible for the area of the ground which is struggling most?

Yes - I would most definitely trial Teague right now until the end of year and have a good look at him.

If the coach can't get the mids to kick to the tall forwards who by the way were at a ratio of 4:1 versus the small then what hope have we got? They've got an 20% of kicking to the wrong person and did it all game.

No, Plow was a lot better than Simmo and Newman. They both had some shocking mistakes. Plow was a solid part of a really solid backline.
Plow was good today. No doubt.
Probably his best game for the year.

I didn't say our performance today was excusable because the umpires were poor. I pointed out a couple of our pieces of play which disappointed me, but I chose not to go down the negative road because some of the dummy spitters had been negative enough to cover the rest of us.

I'm not sure what makes today's loss a disgraceful loss. It is this sort of hyperbole which is what ruins discussion on BF. It was a disappointing loss which could easily have been a win with a little bit more poise at various stages in the game.

When you say "Give the current team until mid year break to turn it around. But if they don't we have to move on", what are you proposing? Another mid year coach sacking? The last time this worked for us was 1978 when the footy messiah took over & delivered us to the promised land in 1979 (with a number of premiership players & some handy young blokes already on the list). Sadly, we tried to repeat the dose in 1989, but this time the footy messiah wasn't the answer. Since then we have sacked Pagan, Ratten (with a couple of games left) & Malthouse during the season without subsequently achieving the premiership success we so desire.

The concept of sacking a coach because there has to be someone better out there is right up there with the attitude we have seen on here for a number of years in relation to getting #1 draft picks. Many posters have suggested that winning games in the latter part of the season should not be a priority as the #1 draft pick (whoever he may be) is too good to pass up. Well 5 x #1 draft picks & 4 x coach sackings since our last premiership haven't delivered the goods. Fortunately our club seems to be steadfast in wanting to see through what was started in 2015 & no amount of hand wringing on BF is going to change this.
Extremely different circumstances there that bears no resemblance at all to now.

He’ll get suspended for KOing that kid
Think your right but I actually don't think he should be this was a pure accident .
Both players were basically falling to the ground one in the act of disposal by hand the other in tackling .
Unfortunately arms were pinned and head hit ground which can happen in a contact sport .
I believe the rule was implemented to stop players who were basically upright with sure footing then grabbing a player and sling tackling to the ground with intended force .
I think the rule has now like a lot of rules implemented morphed into something else that wasn't quite what was originally intended .
So what we will possibly now see is a player copping a suspension of most likely one week for an innocuous unintentional accident getting the same penalty in the end as Dustin Martin sauntering up to the GWS player Kennedy cocking the elbow and deliberately elbowing him .
