Add Taranto and our midfield in 2020 looks so much better. OOC at the end of this year. Billings is the other guy im keen on. Also OOC
Chance of getting Taranto? Slim to none based on where we are now (hopefully we improve through the year) as much as he would improve our team.
Even Billings, if the Saints form holds up no way would he come either.
We also don't have has much trade/pick currency as we have had in previous years.

could have sworn we had a first rounder at least.........

Player retention is one area we seem to be doing well in. Lets hope it stays this way. Very hard to do a full rebuild in these times. There's a bit working against clubs who go down that path but what's worse is there is nothing working for those clubs. There are a few things working for us but there are no free hits like there used to be. We are really incomparable to any other side in history apart from maybe Brisbane who are a year or so ahead of us.

We just need to get to mid table, that's the big hurdle. For us getting to mid table will be a lot harder and a lot longer duration than it will be going from mid table to top.

It just takes too long, replacing all your old players. The way we have gone about it we might be mid table by now if the priority pick system was still around. Little things like that in a long rebuild make a big difference. We've been rebuilding for ages, we've recruited fairly well and traded fairly well yet we still have holes in our side. Either our supporters need to give us a chance or the AFL do and the AFL won't.

For what it's worth our biggest problem is a lack of players in the prime age gap. 23-28 year olds. Most of our players are either over that or under that.

26 disposals and 2 goals for Tom Scully yesterday, who Hawthorn obtained from GWS for a nothing pick.

Have no idea why we didn’t go after him, he would have been perfect helping our young midfield as a mature two-way runner. Yeah there was the injury risk but he cost nothing, it was essentially a free hit.

SOS pls
The news was he wanted Hawthorn and only Hawthorn - their history with injuried players, club success and Clarkson factor. Apparently wouldn't even talk to other clubs hence the nothing pick. Hope we can become a destination club one day...

Very few teams trade top 5 picks. Thats where the gems are at. And as time goes on, it seems to stretch out to the top 10/20 and a few beyond.

If we had a top 3 pick this year we wouldn't trade it. But we took a chance on Adelaide not doing as well as they thought they would and a chance on stocker with (what i believe to be a courageous choice) trading the adelaide pick for a very good player.

Just because we may not have wins currently doesnt mean players dont look at our list and see we are not too far off.

I firmly believe we are closer to a flag than * and i think Shiel's choice was silly based on them winning more games than us last year (glad he choose them tbh).

You only have to look at players such as Cripps, Walsh, Weitering, Charlie, McGovern, Fish, SPS, Docherty and maybe Dow, LOB, Kennedy, McKay, Setterfield etc and know its just a matter of time before these kids explode on the big stage.

Even if no one wants to come to us at the end of the year (which i very much doubt is unlikely), our 2020 will be a very very good year. I just dont buy into the thought players only choose clubs on wins rather than looking deeper and realising a team will be on the up (especially if they come to us)

On Kennedy. After hearing he is really religious is it possible he isn't getting on that well with the playing group? Not because of his beliefs, but because his beliefs but more so the restrictions his beliefs have on the social life side of things? Is he an outsider? I ask this as I think he is very talented but why he wasn't picked this week baffled me.

Id very very much doubt it

God knows why he wasn't picked.

He's a country boy larrikin who gets on well with pretty much everyone, not sure why you think believing in God would somehow hinder his selection...

I'm saying that with the knowledge that Gary Ablett lost the entire playing group as captain due to his lifestyle
Gary Abletts lifestyle? Or the fact he didn't travel with the team and wanted out? Dont believe it was anything to do with religion

He was trying to drag handsome talented footballers to church with him while they ran wild with Karmichals coke and the captain had no idea because he rarely socialized with them. Not having a crack at religion, just the hardcore ones can be very difficult to build relationships with.

Devout Catholics have never been averse to a healthy social life, just ask the Irish.

We didn't have the medical department to get a player like Scully fit. (Maybe now with Russel, we can take those trade chances)

For what it’s worth Carltons problem is Bolton, no if’s or buts about it. I’m close to a famous family son who can’t stand Bolts nor can his family who are massively influential at the Blues. He has 3-4 more games left at the club.

Say hello to the Mathiesons from all of us then.
Not expecting you to divulge of course, but if it is, I would now fear for Bolts like I did for Ratts back then.

Great. What this club needs more of is 'famous families' interfering with the running of things, particularly when they act on the basis of who they like and don't like. That's the culture that we're all hoping to develop... particularly when they are openly talking about knifing the coach to all and sundry...

Don’t worry. It came to the poster in a dream and he thought he should share his dream with us.

The dream needs interpretation. It’s all about his own insecurity. Somebody is coming after him and he’s finding it difficult to cope. I suggest he stop eating family sized pizzas before bed.

Spot on, sometimes supporters unravel to find probable causes and the solutions.
I’m absolutely certain our coaches have the situation under control, with due respect t to everyone’s thoughts. Patience, after the bye our best 22 players will be synchronized and calibrated our wins will come.
