They have the 'luxury' of having experienced players across all parts of their line up, which makes it far easier to bring in the kids.

Having said that, they do have an excellent development system so these kids can hit the ground running when they eventually get selected. We've seen it time and time again.

That's why I wouldn't mind if we start raiding some of their kids not getting a regular game and getting overtaken by others like Narkle or Jermaine Jones. You pretty much have a ready made kid that could slot in from day 1.
I feel that Geelong spend more energy on staying in the eight than building to win a flag. They had their glory days. Built a foundation and all that but its a long time since they took some risks.

It sure looks that way....it was a topic that was discussed at length in the media during the trade period.

It looks like they are trying to 'pinch' a premiership over the next few years with an aging list before they lose players over the next 4 to 5 years like Ablett, both Selwoods, Dangerfield, Hawkins, Henderson, Tuohy etc.

In between times, that's when our current list should be hitting our peak. Would still like to raid some of their kids though.

The danger for the Cats is that topping up means a younger player is missing out and may be tempted to move on for more game time.

Hope we have a crack at Duncan by offering a better deal. About to hit that peak age we don’t have enough of and is the most accountable of the Cats midfield.

Currently being played out of position because he is the only one of their older mids who can defend and plays the team first game every time. Big fan

For our sake I hope De Koning, turns into a player.

But you’re right - Constable and Worpel we’re available at the De Koning pick, I would have taken Constable at the O’Brien pick.

By not splitting our pick 16, we could have taken Richards at 10, Constable at 16 and Worpel with Pick 40, our midfield problems would have been greatly eased.

Like I said I hope De Koning is worth it.
Clearly SOS saw Dekoning as a priority so we waited another year and picked up Walsh Stocker and Setterfield which lot would you prefer know which one I would ?

One of my all time favourite coaches.
You always get your money’s worth with Parkin. He could talk the legs off a table.

But what a man!

After 99 GF I went to Carlton with my wife and children. It was low key. The players and the coach were sitting in the Heatley and the queue snaked it’s way onto the oval. It took a while to get to the front of the queue. Players came and then lost interest. Not Parko. He stuck it out and talked with the supporters. We have a lovely photo of my daughter and Parko beaming at the camera. One of nature’s gentleman.

Great story Robbo's my hero. Just goes to show what a genuine person Parko is. His on field rev-ups even fired me up in the lounge chair!

I called Constable at that draft (not here but on Talking Carlton) I wont claim Worpel or Richards, but those I discussed with elsewhere had these players as well.

But yes hit me with the hindsight stick if you must.
Wanted constable. Think I took him in our boards mock draft in the early teens. Just a very good footballer.

So just finished a conversation with one of Richmond’s players brother initials BH.He is a very passionate Carlton supporter who is also in the know.Has said the following:

Bolts and SOS DO NOT get along at all.Not the coach to take us to the next level according to him.
We have a great bunch of players with no direction/game plan.Players are extremely confused with too much information.Jsos loves the club won’t leave unless told to.Stocker will play this or next week.Players being played out of position mentioned Gibbons and E Curnow.Watch Willo when fit.

Thought I’d share.

Cant really comment on whether there are differences between Bolts and SOS.... who cares
As for the questioning of Bolts gameplan. Hmmmm, curious one that. He may be trying to break the mold and do something different that changes the way the game is played to give us a generational advantage while other teams play catch up. Who knows. He has a very solid CV and track record.
I certainly wouldn't be suggesting that the powers that be were asleep at the wheel through the very rigorous selection process for MM's successor
I have worked in many organisations in many cultures/countries. Would be naive to expect everyone to like each other or even understand each other totally.
Diversity of personality, perspective and opinion have always made for stronger, resilient organisations that deliver sustained positive outcomes if the differences are respected and nurtured.

I agree, vigorous debates are healthy

Just interested if it was the brother's opinion as to whether Bolton is the right man, which could come from another frustrated supporter, or SOS, who would hold more clout, on all things football

I met him walking down Collins Street in the late 90's looking dapper in his suit. Nobody else around. I nodded and said g' day David and go the Blues. He stopped and talked for 5 minutes.
A fine gentleman indeed.

Just a thought...not everybody has to get along in the workplace for the workplace to be successful.

Wouldn't be the first time 2 key personnel didn't see eye to eye yet were successful. Take a look at the Los Angeles Lakers between 2000-2009.

Not saying the rumours are true, but if they are, who gives a shizen. I'm tired of hearing about X doesn't get on with Y in the rumours. Can the people who make up the rumours come up with something new?

If the rumours are true then it may actually mean SOS doesn’t have faith in Bolton and SOS is close to the President and probably some on the board. And if he’s lost SOS then he could lose the support of Judd and ultimately the President at some point. So it’s actually a big deal.

But I agree no need to speculate further at this stage - but remember SOS was coached by three premiership coaches over his playing career so he knows a thing or two about who has it and who doesn’t.

some major assumptions and joining the dots there. SOS would do well to stick to list management . We need team players not destabilisers

I don't understand how bachar houlis brother would know anything about what goes on within the 4 walls at Carlton.

Can you please clarify? I'm genuinely curious.
