Love simmo but that would be a concern. Lets hope midfield do the job to make sure it doesnt get down there quick. 100% with you on Daisy. Taken me a bit to get on board but well and truly on the boat now.
Tbh, I’ve always had a soft spot for Daisy, perhaps in part because I lived for a few years in Drouin, where Daisy grew up. I felt for him when his body gave him no chance of living up to his big money move from the Pies, and the media vultures circled. I respected him massively when he decided to take the trigger clause out of his contract in 2017. And I think that since that time, as his body has come good, he’s been excellent for us, both as a wily player and a passionate leader. I was really pleased when the club extended his contract at the end of 2018, and although he’ll face stiffening competition for his spot as our list develops, I hope that he enjoys whatever time he has left with us - he deserves it imo. These days I definitely see Daisy as a true Blue, rather than an ex-Mag.

Have you seen Smith play this year? He's carrying something and is currently a non-factor.

The more I think about it the more I feel we win this game. Hawks are pretty battered and wounded for this early in the season (Smith, Scully, Wingard and now McEvoy also look to be carrying something or working on fitness). They were decent against Geelong but we get an extra day's rest and will surely have our tails up. Our tall forwards should cause Brand and Stratton headaches (the latter has been poor this year) and the Cripps/SPS combo is better than anything they have in the midfield atm.

Breust has also been out of form but their small forwards will likely pose the biggest threat. Stop their smalls and curtail Sicily's influence down back and I'm confident we can register what would prove a confidence-boosting win on the road.

I’m quite hopeful this week as well.
I take on board Smith may be carrying something but he is one of the best in the business and O’Brien is just beginning his journey and would learn a lot.

Called us as good things last week. We should be about $2.20 this week and probably shorter dependant on the hawks injury situation. For some reason we are $3.40 to win. I don't bet on football but it would appear that the bookies are framing markets based on past history rather than what is actually happening. We must be near certainties on the line if they are giving us 19 points start.

I think Kennedy is about last on the pecking order of mids at the moment and that's because he's too slow and imobile at AFL level. Bit of an emergency for Cripps. He may make it as a tagger but I am really not convinced. Midfield balance is good, clearance work is great.
I think you are writing off Kennedy way way to early. I think once he gets his body right, Kennedy is going to be a huge asset to this team. He’s a very good footballer and offers something we need at the coal face.

I’m guessing you also wrote Weitering off last year for being slow?

Surely other players would be ahead of him for selection at this point.

Nobody else on the list can do what he does. Kid has been playing VFL for 3 years, how embarrassing to go back and essentially waste his and our time after a glorious pre-season and presuming he is 100% fit (which is what Russell said he is).

I love the way our midfielders knew when to lower their eyes and hit up the leading target and when to go long to the square.

I hope we can continue to come up with new leading patterns up forward this week, because I have no doubt the Hawks would have studied our game against against the Dogs and will look to plug up our forward line when we transition from defence.

This is why quick ball movement from the D50 and breaking the lines at half back is important as it doesn't give the opposition time to flood back.

For the first time in as long as I can remember; we have a selection headache in bringing back Charlie for an in form Levi.

..... and it feels fantastic :)

We’re building depth in all departments Thy, official WBs included, in preparation for improvements in team performance.
If WB A happens to be playing well, we shift our attention on to WB B, then on to C, D, E etc. The process only stops when we reach our 17th flag! :p

Bit like Sesame Street.....now I know my ABC's

Reckon, if he wants it, Daisy will have a job with the club well beyond his playing days.

Let's be honest, has all the attributes, but hasn't established himself as yet. I see him as best 22

MK came back through the VFL

Kennedy has had a couple of hitouts, surely a big bodied mid would be useful and rotate Fisher, Gibbons and even Thomas through the forward half

I've heard our win called an upset. Well in the betting world maybe it was. A few more wins and the odds will soon change. These parasites arent interested in football, it's all about taking money off people.

His first 4 weeks of the pre-season/round 1 were as good as anybody in the team and his first half against Richmond was certainly as good as anybody in that team. One can argue his attributes all one likes, but 4 weeks of high-quality football is 4 weeks of high-quality football.

I feel very strongly about Cuningham's role in the team because the evidence is there if one is willing to look at it fairly. I'd be stunned and annoyed if he isn't named in the AFL team.

Don't think Kennedy has a role this week. O'Meara, Worpel, Shiels, Howe, Cousins and Morrison aren't going to cause us much trouble on the inside. Hawthorn will, though, hurt us on the spread and with their kicking, so we need to be very mobile defensively.

If he goes in the deep end with Smith he’ll need to learn to swim fast.
O’Brien appears to “want it” bad enough and he possesses AFL weapons.
Absolutely a work in progress for us but could well reap handsome dividends in time.
If Williamson is ready to go for North it may not necessarily be O’Brien to make way. Ed , Plowman and Newman will want to stay on their toes and Setterfield , Kennedy and Stocker will also be hungry ...
Don’t think Ed will be going anywhere RB. His possession count is lower this year but he’s playing a different role too. I think the seniors in the team are hear to stay to offer support for the youngens.

Their smalls seem to find form when they’re playing against us.

But they need to get it down there. As per usual the midfield battle will be huge and I think we have them covered.

Poppy, Breust and Wingard.....Daisy, Simmo and Newman need to be on high alert.....first hands on ball in midfield will help.

PS.. Same as last week Run,Tackle,Pressure....game over
