“Getting a little worked up over a February puff piece done by channel 9.”

What?.. the puffing up of Sloane are words coming straight from the mouth of one of the club’s assistant coaches whilst he is being interviewed.

Channel 9 are just reporting it.

And anyone thats taken any notice of this club in the last 5 years knows they cannot be trusted to do the right thing at the selection table and cant let go of some faded dream of 2017 form and performance..

“I am fine giving Sloane 3-4 games of AFL.”

why?… so we can waste 3-4 games that we could give to a younger player thats actually going to be here for our next finals campaign?
The bloke was cooked last year before he did his knee.

Does anyone actually think that, after spending a year out if the game due to a knee injury, a cooked 32 year old bloke is going to all of a sudden find the form he had 6 years ago?

he’s been a shell of his former self since 2017.. we’ve spent $800k or more a season for 5 bloody years on a bloke that has either been injured or who’s output has been half of what it was prior to 2017.

Why would you want to see anymore of that?

He wants to come back.. he does it by first proving he has something left to offer in full match conditions in the SANFL..

Not some dicky trial games that arent for real points and certainly not by being granted a gold pass to rounds 1 to 4..

He won't have to perform in the trial games as they'll excuse his output anyway. And he won't get 3-4 games, he's locked in all season. His Thommo gold watch year is 2024 if he manages to force the club's hand into an extension. But I'm starting to have faith that they won't extend uneccessary seniors after Talia and Lynch. Sloane will be a slightly different test though.

Its a puff piece on channel 9. Preseason - everyone is flying. Sloane is turning back the clock. It's nothing but positives.

What do you want the Assistant Coach to come out and say? Like it or not Rory is still the most marketable player at our club (which says a lot).

He was poor in the midfield - but thought he looked good when moved across half forward in the game he did his knee.

If he is fit he still brings enough to the table to be best 22.

SANFL are not above preseason trial games. The SANFL competition is terrible and full of part time footballers.

if you saw the footage of Sloane running into open space, you wouldn't describe it as turning back the clock. If that footage represents where he's at, his only role is akin to Thommo's 2016, which was ambling from stoppage rotation stoppage and rarely cracking 20 touches from 85%TOG. Noting that Thommo blitzed the first 6 rounds that year before his body fell in a hole.

On the other discussion, I hate it when VB speaks. It's clear (to me at least), that he still operates under the old Crows philosophies.

No doubt in my mind that if he had the choice Sloane and Crouch would be in the midfield for game 1 - because experience is all.
Hell, I suspect if VB had his way Douglas and Mackay would be back.

yep, he's a massive problem.

A teething hungry baby meant I could get a couple of votes in late. I’ll keep an eye on it today but good to see the back of Hawks they were killing it.

Need to remove Carlton from play though or at least as a collective weaken them.

Good… i need to get some sleep, I was voting all night 😀
Check the additions/subtractions… some of the hawks added 3 at a time until I prompted them. Naithan Detroit is a serial offender. He added 7 to Carlton’s total until I called him out and then he deleted entire post.
Must admit i did make a mistake myself

Sloane should be on the yellow team so they have some leadership can't expect a yellow team of all young guys to rally and sort their s**t out if getting pumped without any leaders

That's exactly why Sloane shouldn't be on that team. The crop of youths can show who is the next gen of leader without having the safe fall back option of Sloane.

I often wonder if Jones had been taken with pick 50 instead of 7 in a mega draft, would anyone be seeing a player in there?
lots of players like McPherson get written off pretty quickly because they didn’t cost much to start with.

Personally I think Rachelle showed more potential star power in his first couple of games than Chance has in any game he has played so far at either level.

10. That said, I doubt we write him off quickly regardless of draft position. After all, Jones has it on the physical side and that's enough for a club to commit for a while.

It's just unfortunate he's more Mackay then McLeod.

the footage of him running into open space to reveive the ball was worrying, it looked like they'd removed a few inches from his hamstrings. Not moving well at all. I thought he'd return full of beans and refreshed, but he looked terrible in that footage.
Thought the same

He looks strong in upper body but maybe he needs to be lighter to get around the ground
