Very excited to read this book. Helen Garner, one of our greatest writers (I think) spending a season watching her grandson’s footy team.

She’s never been afraid to swim against the tide. Loved her comments about the beautiful things that men and boys do; “toxic” masculinity doesn’t mean all masculinity is toxic.

Pre-ordered it straight away.

One of the members of the Australian Fencing Team that went to Seoul for the Grand Prix last year committed suicide last week (went public yesterday).

We sent 5 athletes, so far 1 has committed suicide, 1 has broken down with depression and attempted something stupid (myself).

The other 3 are still competing.

Nowhere near enough is done to support athletes mental health and honestly I am getting more and more irrationally angry at keyboard warriors on social media (and even here) basically attacking players after performances. Trust me when I say this, no one is beating themselves up more than the athlete all you're doing is rubbing salt in the wound.

Also just want to state, I would 100% do my time in the Australian Fencing Team again and compete in the World Cup and Grand Prix, they were phenomenal experiences that wouldn't of been possible without the support I received from Bigfooty (Swans board and SFA). I would just have added sports counselling/ psychology to my preparation and made some changes.

People who take badly behaved dogs to the dog park can just frack off right now!!
We have massive issues on our footy and cricket grounds , they are dog on lead but the owners are ignorant rats .
Where they can walk them the owners turn it into a social event and don't watch what the dog is doing , so so much poo is left behind, holes dug etc.

The trouble with Dog owners ,even the good ones , IMO is they don't realise everyone doesn't love their dog like they do.

I don't care if your dog is just being friendly or doesn't bite or is a good boy, keep it the **** away from me and don't let it jump up, or don't expect me to care if it follows me as I run because you didn't have it on a lead, or I want to pat it or touch me

I maybe going to Melbourne on Jan 12th for a gig @ the Corner Hotel, Richmond. If anyone wants to join me for a drink or to say g'day let me know. Otherwise, we can catch up before my train leaves the day after for a coffee. :)

Andrew Forrest is building his new place and the construction of it has meant regular traffic hold-ups every day for about six months now. (The visual of dozens of plebs in their cars lined up bumper to bumper waiting for a crane to move a bit of material for a billionaire's home would put Chomsky into AFib.)

Am I missing something? Since when was the construction of someone's private residence allowed to impede traffic like this, on a daily basis, for such a long period of time?

I'm so tired of not being able to get into my driveway. And his damn crane is casting a shadow over my boatshed.
He's a bloody annoying neighbour, that's for sure.
