All I know is it is bloody poor form to be seen attending public events but not show up to your own club's centenary celebration in the same week. That's just plain disrespectful and given the contract the guys is likely on, the club deserves much better. He will be held in judgement by many and should not expect to be exempt from it.
There are certain expectations that come with a public and high-profile position in a sporting organisation and if JUH can't handle that then he really should consider his future.

But you know absolutely NOTHING about his mental injury so how can you make that call?

For all any of us know the bloke could be suicidal about attending. We don't know and we are not entitled to know.

You're right. I don not know anything about his condition. But, I do know that if it was as dire as you suggest then he would not likely be in a state to attend other events. And, if this was the case, then he would be looking to remove himself from the environment that was causing so much anxiety. Resign. Seek help and consider your options thereafter.
Keeping yourself attached to an environment that was supposedly creating so much anxiety is just foolish.

His workplace is not the NBL or NRL. It's a completely different thing.

Think of it like an office worker who has been bullied and suffers a mental injury. Do you think that might trigger that person if they are made to come into work, sit in the corner and watch everyone else work?

However, that person may not be triggered at all by sitting in another companies office. It's the same thing but the triggers aren't there.

Is that why you find it difficult to walk into your bedroom? Do you still hear your missus laughing?

I'm taking notes. That is public service gold. I may not have to work again until I retire. Thank you for the tips.

He is supposedly a professional footballer? Do they understand the meaning of "professional"?
What do you think the meaning of professional is?

In the context of a sportsman - preparing yourself to be in the best condition to perform. That is both at and away from the club. I think Fly uses the term of phrase - "being a winner or is that what a winner does".

For a sports person that includes your lifestyle.

I think Pendles summed it up pretty well the other day in his interview on SEN Crunch time I think it was. Well worth a listen.

It is also one of the (few) topics I actually agree with Kane Cornes on.

Let us know your definition.

Let it go. This is a mental health story.

Mckay from Carlton is not playing again this week due to personal reasons. That's 2 weeks in a row. Do we put him on the coke train? I'm sure some already have. I'm still of the opinion that we know **** all.
Let's hope the personal reasons extend into next week!

I agree with you, but JUH is not well at the moment.

Agreed. However, with the media rights to the AFL being worth more money that God we don't know what influence she has with the 'media stakeholder'. It's clear that the the media rights owner controls the AFL but what we don't know is what influence Caro has over the media.

I reckon you're right that the broadcasters may have some sway there. But, without being an expert on corporate affairs, my guess would be that the influence would come from senior figures at Seven West and DAZN, the owners of Seven and Foxtel, rather than their employee in Caro.

Some poor angles here.

If an athlete who is recovering from a torn pectoral is seen taking part in a fun run, does that mean they aren't committed enough?

The human mind is a bit more complex than a pec (even though one would wonder reading some of the posts in this thread).

There are many ways one can be "not OK"... not all are easily seen or understood.
