Review Young Fremantle By Ten Goals Against Old Tigers In The Barossa

Feel like he leads the score involvements every week too.
Seems like it, feels like he, Reid and Dudley have all made a big difference already, team just seems to move the ball with much more pace and class the past few weeks.

Good win in a beautiful location. Hard to find fault in a 10 goal win except we had a lot of skill errors and missing targets in the first half that will be punished more by good teams. Need to continue to get that out of our game if we want to win finals.

And the obsession with overpossession (the title of JLo's first book). When we just took off and looked to move the ball forward quickly we look great and often ends in a goal or at least locks it into the forward half. When we overpossess, the opp pounces with tackles, more get involved and it often ends with us losing it and our defense out of position. Controlled movement can be useful at times but we need more of the former.

on amiss, do think hes packed on the muscle espeially over this pre season and maybe thats had a slight impact on him? compared to treacy whos been a unit since day dot, amiss has certainly undergone a big transformation so maybe needs a bit of time to get used to and get confidence in what he can do with his body.

got the talent and drive thats for sure, luckily for us we dont have to rely on a 21yo KPF... just a 22yo KPF

We can afford to carry him and we don’t have anyone else at the moment.

His kicking issues should be easily fixable with coaching.

I just watched the shot he had in the second quarter.

He’s concerned about distance so he got too close to the man on the mark just inside 50, then tried to cut out. His leg then cut inside the ball, and slid it left.

Th coaching should be this:
Kick from 51, run straight and kick through the ball. If you don’t make it it, it’s ok. But the technique is right and if it’s straight you have a chance.

So all of his work should be about straight running and punting through the ball.

Am I the only one that thinks Voss would be stiff to get suspended? He's clearly going in for a tackle, it's not like it's a late spoil or anything, reckless, sure, maybe it's the beers talking

Ok, on second review and after a good night's sleep, there's no way Voss is getting off, he'll be lucky to escape with just 1...

Those beers were doing all the talking yesterday sheesh

Amazing how everyone needs a sore point. We just had a 10 goal win and our FF kicks 6 goals and there is negativity about the other tall forward because he didn't go bananas..
were all over the moon for treacys performance for the last 12 months, on the same token Amiss hasnt just not gone bananas, hes been pretty anonymous for some time now. fair point of discussion

I'd like to see the percentage of targets inside 50 that go to Amiss, he also doesn't get up the ground like Treacy but I think that's a game plan thing. There's a lot of factors involved, my main concern is that it looks like Amiss doesn't do enough 'early' work to get off his opponent.

Amiss had more shots at goal than Treacy last year (even before Treacy got injured). Still kicked 36 goals as a 20 year old KPF.

Amiss has been invisible for the last month. Wouldn’t say he’s been anonymous for “some time now”. It’s been a few weeks. With a new look forward line. Discussions around his form are a bit premature imo. I’d back him in to improve over the next month and if he doesn’t then conversations need to be had.

Dude gets held off the ball a LOT. Needs to learn to work through it but if he was Curnow he’d be getting 5 frees a game the way he’s manhandled.

I thought we’d see Treacy as centre half forward, getting up the field with his excellent field kicking, and Amiss as full forward deep. However, Treacy’s been playing full forward and Amiss… too? Structural change

I thought it was very well known Bolton was a pretty terrible setshot, and I was definitely aware he was capable of the insane at both ends of the spectrum.

Overall the effect he has though can be profound, his ability to change a game is clear and that agility.. wow.

Can't wait for him to break a big game open for us.
I knew about the set shot but he definitely has some other disposal and decision making... quirks that raise eyebrows. The rest of the package more than make up for it though.

I know Amiss isn't hitting the scoreboard a lot. Bur cmon... can people not remember watching Pav double/triple teamed for years?

Having 2 genuine KPFs is amazing for us. Especially ones that are so young.

Agreed.

Voss and Jackson rounds it out very nicely. They HAVE to pay attention to all three.

Voss kicking straight will make that even more pertinent

Haha I'd argue he's just an unco bastard, send Treacy in with a pirate's eye patch as supporting evidence.

I did notice the same thing, I'm now at the point where as much as I'd love Bolton to be kicking bags every week, if he continues creating opportunities for our other forwards and providing some class in the midfield, then I'm fine with him kicking 1-2 goals a week.

He's been such an amazing signing for us.
Shai is leading the team for score involvements (av 8.25) followed by Brayshaw (7.8)
