Injury Update 17th June …





Harry McKay (knee)
  • Recovery phase
  • Availability: Rounds 19 – 21
  • Arthroscope completed on his knee, and will commence his rehab following initial recovery from the procedure

Matthew Cottrell (foot)

  • Recovery phase
  • Will miss the remainder of the 2025 season
  • Has undergone surgery to correct a navicular stress fracture, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2025 season

Hudson O’Keeffe (hamstring)
  • Modified program
  • Availability: Rounds 18-19
  • Scans have confirmed O’Keeffe experienced a low-grade hamstring strain in the third quarter of Sunday night’s win over West Coast.

Charlie Curnow (calf tightness)
  • Full training
  • Availability: Test
  • Will aim to train fully this week to be available to play

Nic Newman (knee)
  • Integrate into full training
  • Availability: TBC
  • Has progressed very well throughout his rehabilitation to now put himself in a position to begin training with the main group. That will be his focus over the next month before it is determined whether he will be able to return to play later in the season

Lachie Cowan (hamstring)
  • Full training
  • Availability: Test
  • Will aim to train this week to be available for selection

Sam Walsh (foot)

Latest Injury Update 8th July …





*Zac Williams has been cleared of any injury and is available to play after recovering from a knee-on-knee knock last Friday night.

Lewis Young (ankle)
  • Modified program
  • Availability: Rounds 22-23
  • Scans have confirmed Young experienced an ankle syndesmosis injury during Saturday’s VFL win, however no surgery is required, with Young expected to be sidelined for the next month.

Adam Saad (concussion)
  • Modified program
  • Availability: Round 19
  • Is progressing through the final stages of concussion protocols, with the aim to be available to play next week

Harry McKay (knee)
  • Integrating into full training
  • Availability: Rounds 19-20
  • Remains on track to return to play in the next fortnight

Sam Walsh (foot)

  • Availability: Round 21
  • Building up his running program, will then progress into skills training over the next fortnight before he returns to play

  • While he continues to make strong progress in regard to his rehabilitation, the decision has been made to allow Newman use the remainder of the season to build up his strength and conditioning, allowing him to enter the off-season in a really strong position moving forward.

  • Scans have confirmed Fantasia experienced a hamstring strain last Thursday night, with his return to play timeline to become clearer in Round 21

  • Modified program
  • Availability: TBC
  • Scans have confirmed McGovern experienced a hamstring strain last Thursday night, with his return to play timeline to become clearer in Round 21

Adam Saad (concussion)
  • Full training
  • Availability: Test

Jack Silvagni (groin soreness)
  • Modified program
  • Availability: TBC
  • Continues to be monitored, with the Club to provide a further update once Silvagni is able to increase his training loads

Devastating news!






THE CARLTON Football Club can confirm that defender Harry O’Farrell has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.
O’Farrell was subbed out in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against Fremantle.

The 19-year-old underwent scans today on his return to Melbourne, which confirmed the injury.
"He will go into surgery, with the Club to provide him with all the support he needs through his rehabilitation."

  • Will undergo surgery after rupturing his ACL on Sunday against Fremantle

  • Availability for Saturday’s game will be further assessed later in the week

Mitch McGovern (hamstring)

  • Availability: test
  • Will aim to train fully this week to be available to play

  • With his groin issue unable to see him build back to full training loads, Silvagni will miss the final three games of the season. As a result, Silvagni was able to undergo surgery late last week to remove the plate in his hand that he broke and subsequently had to undergo surgery for in Round 7.

Jagga Smith will travel to the United States this week to complete one of the final parts of his recovery. Carlton confident he will be back in skills work on day one of pre-season and ease back into main training on the other side of Christmas.

Carlton ruckman [PLAYERCARD]Marc Pittonet[/PLAYERCARD] is recovering after experiencing a throat injury at training.

Pittonet suffered a knock to the throat during a training drill on Friday and after developing considerable discomfort, was transferred to hospital later that day for observation, where it was revealed he had suffered a fractured larynx.
The 29-year-old’s symptoms have improved each day since Friday, with specialists confirming he does not require surgery.

Carlton Football Club can confirm forward Jesse Motlop has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.

The injury occurred during training on Monday, with subsequent scans confirming the rupture.
Motlop will undergo surgery before commencing his rehabilitation towards a full recovery.
