Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

VOSS WILL NOT BE SACKED TODAY, BUT, IT WILL HAPPEN.

I am hoping my capitals have helped you uncover the meaning behind it.

Malthouse explained the difference between Collingwood and Carlton thus: “Eddie McGuire did not have a rear vision mirror. He never spoke about the past.”

At Carlton, “everything was in the past”.

Malthouse felt the board was too large (13) and often seemed more concerned with their business dealings. “I was staggered there was more transactions being done there between businesses, the football became a secondary sort of thing ... You could tell it was more about how their companies were going than how Carlton was going.”
That's spot on. I know one of his family members and thats exactly how it was put to me. We were broke and he was literally coaching with his hands behind his back because he kept getting knocked back when asking for things.

I think John Longmire would be the best senior coach we can hire. There is literally no way of ****ing that one up thanks to his track record.

Hickmott and Skipworth might be nice assistant coaches turned senior coach, but if we do go that route, there is a bigger margin for error. Maybe we don’t get either of them and wind up with yet another Teague or Voss.

From the Hun today and I guess we can suspect some journos have access to some legit sources, but they were of the view Voss was safe from cull as little as 2 weeks ago with GW focusing mainly on shaking up assistants, recruitment etc. Now there is a possibility that after 2 weeks things may have shifted.

We have no idea what the decision makers are going to do…they could surprise many on here and have Voss at least see out his contract.

Last night may have just reinforced to GW that the LM team and List needs work.

In 2023 we were playing atrociously, then all of a sudden we looked like world-beaters. What changed? Not the list.

In 2024 we were playing really well, then all of a sudden we became dreadful. What changed? Not the list.

Makes it hard for me to believe that the list is the primary cause of whatever is happening now.

No doubt there are list improvements that can be made, but as the main explanation of what is going on? No.

As for the idea that our list has a uniquely poor level of resilience or determination or whatever... really? We just happen to have assembled a list where 90%+ of players aren't up to it mentally, while other clubs just happen to have assembled lists where 90%+ of players are the opposite? That's so statistically implausible that it's frankly not worth worrying about. Certainly we should be exploring other, far more likely avenues first.

That's my preferences longmire to come in and sought shit out with one of Hickmont Skipworth Giansiracusa caracella to succeed him

Here's what my Conspiracy Central thought process believes.

I think Longmire to Carlton was decided before Longmire quit. I think Cox not taking the WCE job is also a supporting theory.
Just like I thought Hardwick to GCS was done before he quit Richmond.

I also think the timeout between tenures is not only to give the Coach a break and mentally refresh, but for both departed and arriving clubs to avoid Media Shitstorms.

Gee the comments from Brad Lloyd on Voss are not exactly a ringing endorsement…

“Asked if he and Voss would be at the club next year, Lloyd told reporters at Melbourne Airport on Friday: "I'm unsure of that. We will just stick at it and keep going to work.”

He should be the first one out the door. Wright needs to cut him now. At least Voss tried.

What’s funny is the “toxic” behaviour from fans when the most toxic thing has been our performances on the field for the past 365 days.

I understand you’re pissed, all Carlton supporters are, but you can’t believe that attempting to overthrow a board (which will fail) and will cause chaos and instability is a good thing. I’d rather we at least have a strong and stable off-field to enable us to continue to work on the part that’s broken. Trying to fix both at the same time would be a disaster.
Disagree I think (if true) cut the head off the snake first. Who know how much inteference they continue to throw in future plans.

The question that should be asked:

"Which lawyer are you going with when the club files a lawsuit for wage theft against you?"

This sounds like Pagan and Malthouse all over again. Keep the club stable, hire better coaches to support Voss.
Good in theory, but how do we do it. What benefit is there for a quality assistant coach to come to carlton and work for Voss? He's coming up on 10 years as a head coach, in which time his team's get worse the longer he coaches. Assistants want to work under successful coaches, so getting quality assistants to work under Voss would be easier said than done.

Lloyd shouldn't even be allowed in the joint. His ineptitude is the reason Voss never had the support needed and was destined to fail.

Whats frustrating with Cook is, that he had the ability to course correct, after 2022, 23, 24.

All the reviews we were told about across that time. The signing off on some bizarre contracts, resigning of assistants, salary cap strain, extension of Voss etc....

Promise of implimenting the Cats salary cap model....

When people say he came too late in 2021 to influence the Voss decision, he had lots of opportunity to influence post that decision. To me, he looked like a guy enjoying the sunset of his career, rather than agent of change we required

I reckon that he's been of the view that a lot of our problems have stemmed from instability and an unwillingness to weather the rough seas before sighting clear skies. When the going gets tough, Carlton start sacking people.

Now - he may be right. We may be in another of those rough patches now, and if we stay the course we might come out of it stronger. But maybe there are heads that need to roll...

It's a tough balancing act - how do you tell when major changes are necessary, versus needing to persist with the people you have and challenge them to change their methodology instead. How long do you challenge them before you decide to cut them, etc. Tough gig.

Bruh

Not even a chance to enter the club at any football department role

Extremely smart man he is but just a fan channel at the end of the day
He's said as much. From what I gathered he's merely
keen in helping set the wheels in motion to make change happen as a major voice amongst the fans. He himself would not be trying to involve himself based on past comments, just help let the fans be heard and maybe force a vote of no confidence in the board type thing.
