List Mgmt. Leadership group, 2026 and beyond.

Our 2025 leadership group consists of:

Bont
Libba
Naughton
Dale
Richards
Doc
L Jones
Weightman


I doubt Doc and Jones will remain in the leadership group next season as they will most likely not be given contracts.

The way I see it, we should now be looking to add some young leaders into the leadership group.

The three leading candidates IMO are:

Darcy
Sanders
Bont Mk2

If we decide to add two of those three in 2026, job well done. Do we hold off on the third addition until Libba retires (2027 / 2028) ?

Lobb should come into the leadership group imo (two years ago I would never have imagined saying this). Just gives leadership vibes these days. Don't rush it with Darcy, let him just focus on being the best player in the comp for now. He'll be Captain after Bont anyway.

Freijah and Darcy absolutely scream leadership material so are very likely to be in the leadership group over the coming years, they are still so young though so not sure if 2026 would be too soon or not...

Freijah and Darcy are young, but you don't have to look far for a young player who had leadership thrust upon him, and thrived...

I have noticed two players on the training track that are vocal and demanding of their team mates. One is Bont and the other is Freijah.

I think Lobb would be nice to have in the mix. He seems like a stand up person.

We’ve been missing a core group of leaders for a number of years IMO. It’s been a reasonable sized weakness behind Bont.

It does appear that we’re developing a nice group of younger leaders. I can see all of Darcy, Freijah & Sanders.

If you’ve ever heard Freijah speak, you could easily see him growing into a captain in 5-6 years time.

Freijah from the Old eye test has all the sauce required to become a grand leader for this club.
He May not be particularly vocal yet, but he leads by example. A trait we desperately need more of.

Can definitely see it and probably Darcy too. But I wonder if it will go to someone like Richards, Naughton or Butters for a few years first.

With Duryea, Jones and now JJ gone too I wonder if someone like Williams or English can step up and take on a bit more leadership. So weird that they're now some of the most senior players

Not a bad group but it shows how inexperienced we will be in defence. If not for all the injuries I reckon Weightman could have been our next captain but I'd probably take him out for Lobb and just let him focus on getting back to the player he was

I agree he was fantastic in the role but would like to see a transition period before he retires.

Darcy is the next captain if he stays fit and he'll be terrific at it.
