Toast Round 20 = Richmond 57-93 Collingwood

We played this game with extraordinary accuracy from a coaching and team management perspective.
In the 2nd half, or at least from half way in the 3rd, the pressure guage from both teams was locked on mediocre.

From Richmond's perspective, because that is all they could achieve, being such a young team

From our perspective: we had established a 40 point margin, and there is really no need to pulverise Richmond into the dust. What does that achieve, except potentially inflate media hyperbole how we are now "back to our magnificent best"?

There is no value in that for us.

We just needed to play the game out, avoid injuries, play lock down footy against a team who could provide us with no yardstick for measuring our finals performance.
Conserve the energy and the focus for next week when we do play a genuine Premiership contendor.

That tunnelling free against Perryman has to be the worst decision of the year - and boy have there been some contenders

What the actual **** was that
If that was Elliott flying for the ball I think we’d expect him to receive the free.

Nah, Perryman just held his ground, players look where their opponents are all the time so the fact he looked at him shouldn't matter, not sure where he was supposed to go if he's not allowed to stand where the ball was going. Also haven't read anything about the non 50 to Elliott when the Richmond player ran way past the mark, it was late in the game so no effect but it was one of the more obvious 50s

Not to mention the 50 when the bloke kicked it about 7m from kick in, or the “not 15” to Schultz that went about 20m, or XYZ

Did what was required, so I give everyone a tick for that. Performance wasn't brilliant by any means, but I hope today is a launching pad for building momentum into the finals.

N Daicos was brilliant. Just a class above everyone else with his goals, disposals and overall decision making.

Hopefully we see the return of De Goey, Hill and Frampton next week which should significantly boost us especially with tougher opposition coming up in the next three games (Brisbane, Hawthorn and Adelaide).

On an off-field note, it was funny seeing Level 2 of the Ponsford End mostly empty despite Richmond fighting for the right to sit in that area for years.

Perryman didn’t just hold his ground though, he actively moved into the path of the Richmond player. Him looking at the player just made it look worse. You have to either get the ball or block before the jump.

Perryman wasn’t standing where the ball went though as otherwise he’d have marked the ball.

He didn't mark it because Greene jumped over the top of him, will just have to disagree on that one, it reminded me of the free against sidey last week when he held his ground and I thought that was a crap decision too

Nah, his clear intention was to mark the footy.

Are we the only supporter group who aren’t happy after a 6 goal win?

We have high standards. I like to think it is that approach that has seen me win the award for most innovative repurposing of a pair of salad tongs at the Hellfire Club Christmas in July bash four years running, but that commitment to excellence has a price too.

I never said Richmond played poorly

The two things aren’t mutually exclusive
You didn't say they played well, either.
What you said was" Good to get the win but you won’t ever convince me the AFL didn’t instruct the umpires to make sure we didn’t see another belting"

Taj Hotton is playing for Richmond who is the son of Trent Hotton who for a while played for Collingwood then Carlton. He took Tony Shaw's documented plans with him & infamously gave them to the Carlton Coach.

Some might say Taj is a "Hotton Tot" of course I never say that 😉
