Agreed, but there's just a lot of speculation on the reasons at this stage and not much actual detail.
That's the WU statement

Needs to be resolved immediately as it will delay season fixturing and players need securtity to look after themselves.

So.... still believe the stadium is happening?
The franchise will likely be sold to the highest bidder, so sure why not. One thing for sure though is that your club would have been relegated to obscurity years ago in any half respected football nation.

Western United will have the option to fight for its survival in the Court of Arbitration for Sport should Football Australia reject the Victorian club’s appeal against being stripped of its A-League licence.

Having asked for an extension, United has finally lodged its appeal against being stripped of its licence.

“As this is a regulatory process, the club will be making no further comment at this time,” a United statement said on Wednesday night.

No one will buy a heavily indebted club with an average A League crowd of like 3k

The best case scenario is the club winds up and a new club is born eg Wyndham United

… which keeps the same colours and plays VPL out of council owned ironbark fields

In time the club will grow its base and perhaps be a contender for a national 2nd tier comp… if that ever sustainably eventuates

A league should stick with 12 teams in the meantime… try and stabilise the financials… and all going well look to bring in 2 more teams (one a Christchurch team) over the next 5 years or so

I think Avondale will base themselves there for Aus championship matches.

Ground will get plenty of use.

UPDATE: Still scamming till the very end who is this new found "investor"? looks like they just want to keep dragging this through the courts.

15m ain't nowhere near enough. Plus this investor wants it repaid.

They would need the Saudis to buy them as a sports washing project to save them..

I hope they got another $1500 deposit from this new investor.

Its the Fyre Festival of Australian football at WU.

What an absolute failure from the get go. I hope anyone involved in accepting this bid in the first place is no longer involved with the league.
