I agree we are slow with Taranto, Hopper and Prestia but we can't just get C-grade players for the sake of having pace.

We need to add more top-end talent to Lalor, Smillie, Hotton, and McAullife.
National combine results:

Hotton’s best times recorded start of his draft year :
3rd in 20m sprint.
1st in agility test.
2nd in running vertical jump

McCauliffe:
5th in 20m sprint.
3rd in running vertical jump
4th in standing vertical jump

Smillie:
Agility was Just outside top-10.. 8.39s exceptional for a tall midfielder.
3.088s for 20m sprint also exceptional for a tall midfielder.

Lalor: no results due to injury - not super quick but we’ve already seen he is super quick by hand and foot.

Seth Campbell and MRJ both midfield options are quick and agile.

So people don’t need to fret about our midfield speed into the future. It’s already there … it’s just underdone or injured.

Who from Kosi, Bauer, Blight, Smith, McIntosh, Dow, Sonsie and Colina would you keep?

Drafting 4-5 kids should be expected while were rebuilding. Wouldn't be that hard to get to either. We've got the 2 early picks, Kellaway and then 1-2 late picks and/or rookies.
Kosi has one more year.

Keep = Smith, Sonsie and Dow

Gone = Macca, Colina, Bauer

Trade = Blight

Not sure of how all the rookies etc… work, but I see us taking 2 x top-5 picks at the draft plus Kellaway very late which will cost us nothing.

Then trade Blight for a future pick.

Then end of 2026, due to form, injury or retirement could see the end of : Fawcett, Lefau, Smith, Clarke, Sonsie, Lynch, Dow, Green, OHB, Broad, Gibcus, Tresize, Kosi, Hugo and Prestia.

So we probably see the back of 7-8 of those 15 end of 2026, so that’s the draft we will be stockpiling picks for and planning some free agent raids.

Probably need a 22/23 year old ruck as a trade, but how do people feel about using Pick 2 on Cooper Duff-Tyler if West Coast haven't taken him?

Him and a gun midfielder at 2 and 3 (provided North don't pull off the upset against Adelaide - I'll be upset if they do) would be a great first round.
Have no fear of North getting over Adelaide; norths backline is shit and couldn’t cope with Lynch, let alone trio of Adelaide’s KPF.

When can Samson Ryan be jettisoned?
Have we got him for life?

Also, Smillie, McAuliffe and Lalor can all tackle. Hotton I imagine will also be quite a good tackler as he gets stronger. This is an underestimated factor in slowing other teams down. Broken tackles or easy disposals when being tackled create more space than anything else.

Need to catch them first!

How can they declare this now when the contract hasn’t even been signed? This deal makes me f***ing sick.

They're getting pick 2 for Allen, but not because this termite says so.

Remember the Harley Reid draft? "They're not picking him!" with his smug face. The ranga rat has 0 credibility

Has anyone ever been able to prove Kozi had a 3-year contract?
There's so much more evidence that it's two years:
  • It was reported on Trade Radio at the time as two years.
  • A family member who posts on PRE has said its definitely two years
  • A recent article (I think in The Age?) listing uncontracted players had him included
Only Footywire has him listed at 3 years.

Nth Melbourne has offered Marcus Windhager a "five-year deal".

Cal Twomey (via Gettable)

Collecting all the mids LoLNorf
I'd give him 5 years on decent money. He's 22 and fills a huge need in our midfield.

North's midfield is just as bad as ours defensively, so it's a smart move for them imo.

It’s only sad the bible (footywire) is wrong but good for us.
