That's selecting statistics to suit the narrative.

Pre-finals bye was introduced in 2016. Since then, the top-4 team has won the semi-final 10 times, the bottom-4 team has one 8 times. Statistically the top-4 team wins the semi-final based on a bigger sample size.
10/18 hardly overwhelming!

I'd say both stats suggest most likely result is 1/1 from the qf teams. I personally think we are in a world of trouble and hawks a good chance too...

Has anyone mentioned this will be the biggest and most important Q Clash of all time?

I don’t disagree on statistical probability of win/loss - I was responding to the original post that said we were likely to lose. I think both games could easily go either way.

We got thumped on the weekend, but Gold Coast didn’t exactly set the world on fire. It was an amazing game, but they won by 1 point against Freo who we resoundingly smashed 3 games ago. It’s not as simple as that, but we’ll bounce back.

I’m still confident of a win next week. I think GC just played their GF yesterday and will be flat.
It should be obvious in the first 5 min if we are switched on and pressuring.
I’d continue with Sam Day and Ty against the Suns.
Don’t just be a fan, be a supporter. Go Lions.

What's the sense from Brisbane-based peeps on how many people will go?

I guess being the only final there would be appetite. It just always feels harder to generate excitement after such a bad loss, and with the injuries making a flag a remote possibility i wonder if the crowd will be a bit flat?

Suns game in home n away was a bad loss. This one not so much to be honest. We were close enough but never got a clean ball going our way all game. Like Fagan said, too much handballing and perceived pressure meant we never had regular marks to catch a breather. Skills became erratic at that point which meant we were caught napping on rebound.

Geelong showed some interesting ways to combat our midfield and forward line. Rayner was given a lot of respect with a full game tagging job, McCluggage was tagged with a faster Mullin and he couldn't getaway, Neale was underdone so I won't place much weightage on how much momentum he generated for us. WAshcroft was good but their mids like Bailey Smith and Holmes again had us for pace. Lastly they used wing really well and we couldn't combat Dempsey's run from one end to another.

But like any good team and coaching group - we'll go to work on it and come up with plans to counter.

It'll be a sell out. We're selling out regular season games as a norm now, a final will be packed - Brisbane still considers us a winner for the time being.

How far back is 429 MM? nearly at the very back right? I was 2,000 in queue at 10am and bought these at 10.10am and still got tickets at the very back? Stitch up

I think you’re about 10 rows from the back. So just over halfway back. I’ve sat in QQ before which is even further back in the GWS final and the seats were fine so nothing to fret about.

You’ll have a terrible time.

Next time discard the tickets and they'll send another lot.
I discarded the first 4 lots of tickets and finally got close to what I wanted.
You only get so many goes and they send you back to the queue, I was probably close for that to happen.
I did have another window open and went back into the queue straight after I received my tickets and there where only 5 in front of me, so wasn't going crazy .
Just got to chill bro.

I like the midfield balance more when Lachie is out (no particular reason other than i feel it gives us more options to change things up in the middle and around the ground). Bruce to come back in and Lions to win this one and take on the pies at at the G. We still have a very good team banged up or not.

We need to consider what the Suns did to our Midfield at Carrara. Alex Davies ran protection for Rowell allowing him and Anderson to dominate. I would like Bez to play Centre and Clugga out to the Wing. This would provide some negation of the Davies effect Our Centre Bounces would look like. Fort Bailey Dunkley and Bez or Fort Wash Dunkley and Bez. Wingers Clugga and Fletcher.
Reville in for Neale and Oscar in for Gallop and McKenna in for Marshall.

Not a fan of O in for Gallop, if O comes in it has to be for Sam Day, all 3 of Fort, McInerney and Day is too many slow players on transition.

If O comes in has to be for Day IMO, at least Gallop provides some defensive pressure.

At least Oscar can ruck really well, can clunk a mark, can kick a goal and can bring it to ground. He will also try - that's already a step up on Day.

How fit is McCluggage ?

He's been charging around stoppages for weeks now and couldn't seem to run at all on Friday .I know he was tagged but there was some other problem there for sure.
