<<<Smith's long expected move down the highway has been a raging success, with the star midfielder in Brownlow contention and his club a huge chance of another premiership. Smith leads the AFL for average disposals and inside 50s this season and he's more than justified his price tag, with the Cats giving up only picks 17 and 38 in last year's deadline day>>>

We are easybeats aren’t we?

Smith had lots of off field issues.

Still does.

Absolutely wild that he achieved that and AA in his 2nd season, and nothing remotely close since then.

Kelly kicked 48 goals (24 in both years) at Geelong. He's kicked 36 goals in his six years with us, with only one of those seasons being double digit goals. That's been the most disappointing thing. I thought we were getting a bloke who not only racks up the disposals but also hits the scoreboard in a big way.

What a finessing.

How many games did Kelly play alongside all of Nic Nat, Shuey, Yeo, Gaff, Sheed and Redden?
Yep, as I have said before he was meant to be the cherry on top but who knew all the ice cream was going to melt when he got here.

for everyone's sanity. we just have to move on from this.

it didn't work out how everyone would have hoped for the reasons discussed a million times already.

FWIW kelly has still been a solid contributor.
Solid contribution is underselling him.

He and NN were head and shoulders above as our best players for the few years following our trade of him.

TK held up his end of the bargain and if the team around him didn’t fall apart we would be talking about what a good pick up he was.

Absolutely wild that he achieved that and AA in his 2nd season, and nothing remotely close since then.

The Des Headland effect, but at least Kelly wasn't that bad

I feel like the club hit a patch of real stupid list decisions at the start of the year.

Kelly and Hutchinson being the headliners in this space, but i reckon as the year went on the club improved and got a lot better with additional re-signings of players. More ruthless/staunch.

Either way it'll be an interesting off season for Kelly, coming off easily a career low year in most metrics for him. Mentally it must have shook him a bit, fans are well and truly off him, got dropped twice etc etc.

Good to see him rally and contribute properly again after his second WAFL stint. As others have said, we needed that in round 1 so you wouldn't be patting him on the back to much given his overall contribution was poor and sub standard.
