I have been involved with Clubs that have gone to ruin by bad financial decisions or nearly gone bankrupt from Presidents and Committees who have no idea of running a chook raffle let alone a football club. Look at the number of Clubs which have gone to financial peril because of bad decisions by administrations. The coach is involved in the front room decision making as well as the activities in tthe backroom to make sure the team performs on the field. It's a 100% 360 focus.

Coaching isn’t about telling people what to do; it’s about helping them think, reflect, and grow. At its core, coaching leadership is built on three key principles:
  • Active Listening: Leaders stop jumping to solutions and start truly hearing what’s said, and what’s not.
  • Powerful Questions: Instead of directives, they ask: “What’s standing in your way?” or “What outcome would feel like success to you?”
  • Trust and Safety: They create space where people can speak honestly, admit mistakes, and take risks without fear of blame.

Well I apologise if they came across as too personal. 0 intention was just to say and to give what I believe I know.
Anyway it’s a forum, it’s a thread it’s meant to be interactive not personal or abusive/emotional. Believe you said on the other thread you knew him or know him so I apologise to you then.
I understood what you were saying Dazzler.
A coach doesn't get moved on after winning a flag just because.

Might not be anything seriously bad - But there has to be some clash of vision or personality somewhere along the line.

A club favourite from a Strathmore family became available to coach again and the club has decided to put him back in the drivers seat. Despite taking the club to a premiership no one thought was possible Ash was simply moved out of the way to make it happen, anything else that comes out of SM is spin.

Yep…. 👍

And they still did interviews full well knowing who would be the coach anyway.

Since the dawn of time, all good coaches have been involved in all aspects of a club in whatever sport that may be. It has nothing to do with modern coaching.
As for the world catching up to coaching transforms leadership, again that has been around since the dawn of time.
All great coaches have been able to manage their players and have players buy into the philosophy of the coach and more importantly the culture the coach brings and creates.

I would say culture transforms into leadership, coaching is the by product.

So, you are agreeing with me. Nice. But look at modern coaching. Previously the coach didn't worry about culture. Mick Malthouse didn't care about the wild boys at Collingwood or West Coast when he coached there. Half the West Coast team were coked up during the week, and some have died subsequently. So, they were never told "No" about their lifestyles.

In those days no one cared as long as there was the performance on the field. Now coaches are 100% involved in player culture. Craig McCrae at Collingwood drives that. Chris Scott at Geelong, Chris Fagan at Brisbane and at local level, it is even more prevalent. Modern coaches act like the father figure at the club. Engaging in an adult conversation on all parts of the players lives and as I said, available 24/7 to discuss any issue. On and off field issues.

Culture does not transform into leadership unless the coach drives it.

Mags about to name some jets ! Look out everyone !! I can hear the moaning now! We may have lost a few but we are bringing in some quality that will just not be matched !
Yep it's been a total game changer this week at Greenhill Reserve.

heard the was a few deer park players and 2 premiership winning Darley boys at the centrals meet the coach night that all put pen to paper, should make them win 3 games instead of 2
That’s harsh old mate. Points could be an issue but if playing seniors at both clubs they will definitely improve them. Good to see them improve as good for the competition.

They won’t fit them all in points wise anyway but interesting to see who they are and very pleased they didn’t get Kight heard the offer was too good to turn down but bloods pulled the heart strings

Honestly would any decent Bloods players like Kight go to Centrals once they leave BFNL? I’m not convinced they would. South already seem the destination club for Bloods now 😉

Given you say you posted what you know to be true, send me a private message and I will give you my contact details. Happy for you to call me and enlighten me with what you know. I took no personal offence to what you posted it’s just most of it was totally untrue. Yes I do know Nick, happy to have a discussion with you off line. Maybe what you tell might help Nick be a better coach if he ever is involved in the coaching game again.
