2025 List Management Discussion - Part 5

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

I actually wouldn’t be against Florent for a 3rd rounder. Fell out of favour this year but played some pretty decent footy in Swans GF year in 2024, could see a role for him as a small defender. 184 games experience and only recently turned 27, durable and fits right into the profile we need for a finals push.
The problem is that he would be on sizeable coin for a player that would not be a guaranteed first-team player. Plus, it would take game time away from players like Boxshall, Garcia etc.

Better be an incoming if Steele and Rowan go
Nah, I’m happy for the young midfielders to take Jack’s spot .

Re: Ro, he was going to play forward anyway and we have that covered.

Happy to give our kids another year of learning on the job.

What's his experience as a defender?

Just remember. There doesn’t seem to be a player coming back today.

So they are magic beans in place of Row and 12 months of Soldo according to Tom Morris.
To me it remains the same convo about whether you think we can play em both.

If we cant (which is what i think) then the picks are pretty good. Noting i reckon we wanna do next years cause we clearly dont care about this draft anyway.

If we can then yeh agreed.

I still think we should be saying future first and a player just to make them actually hand something over they care about. They always claim their culture is so good cause they never have to ask players to **** off.

I really hope you are right.

It's a big win for our finals and flag prospects next year if marshall stays and the cats have stanley etc.

We should be saying no unless its daylight robbery
Tend to agree with Gerard Healy...we're a better side with both Marshall and TDK

Cho is genuinely a chode. Selling off Oliver for a third but would pay a late first/second for Steele :drunk:

How tf does this make any sense.

Fwiw I hope we keep Steele.

Dees:
Out - F1st
In - Steele, Jiath

Hawks:
In - F1st (Melb)
Out - Jiath + CMac

Saints:
Out - Steele
In - CMac

???

Off topic slightly, but I think it’s insane what Carlton and Essendon expect for Curnow / Merrett. Hawks offer in particular I thought was pretty good, can’t see a deal happening as it would need to be ridiculous.
Dont agree at all.

Merett is an absolute star and Essendon should rightly be asking for a kings ransom, Essendon also already has a shitload of high picks.

Carlton probably a little less so but the offer from Sydney is miles better than the Hawks offer to the bombers.

If we expect to make finals in 2026.

The list looks a hell of a lot more finals like with Ro and Steele.

If both go, that’s a lot of experience and talent - aswell as flexibility with Rowan, gone.

I was all for both moves. But I really did believe something was going to shake loose late for us.

Hawthorn get reamed worse then traffic at Dingley but yeah I’d take that in a heartbeat.
I'm not so sure. With no Petracca or Oliver and a new coach, Melb's future first could easily be a top 5 pick.

They are getting a 3rd for CJ so it values CMac around a late 1st? Dees first should be top 6-8 next year BUT I would assume they flip it for Merrett.

They do 9 + Dees 1st + Hustwaite for Merrett.
