Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

If the AFL really cared about some supposed 'rivalry' between Carlton and Sydney because of the CC move, then surely this game should be played at the MCG where most of those who would be 'upset' should be able to be in attendance. But, IMO, it's got nothing to do with any rivalry but some fake narrative the AFL can drum up to get eyes on TV this year. Come 2027 the whole thing will be forgotten, and some new fake 'rivalry' will emerge, and Hypothetically if someone like [PLAYERCARD]Ben King[/PLAYERCARD] moved to Carlton, we'd have to travel to the 'People First' stadium on the GC.

Opening round in 2028 will be between the Devils and whichever big name recruit’s former team they’ve managed to attract. Lock it in now.

If Curnow continues with his stand and wrestle mentality like he did most of this year he will get towelled up by Weitering. That's Weiters absolute bread and butter. However, if Charlie starts leading up at the ball and their mids deliver it well.. then yeah, we have no tall who can go with him for that initial burst speed off the mark.

I don't like playing in opening round. Really quite annoyed we have been bundled back into that if it's true, which I think it likely is.
You know he's going to put in special effort against us and will be on his bike the whole game.

If McKercher or Sanders go to the Tassie team I doubt the AFL will open with Norf or the Dogs.
The AFL will send one of the big Melbourne clubs down to Tassie for their first game, most likely Collingwood or Hawthorn IMO.

They will want more than McKercher or Sanders as their big name recruit though. I’m talking about someone who might be Victorian.

If they end up with Sanders and McKercher as the main names, I agree on the big Melbourne club going down. But I actually think it is as likely to be us as anyone. Count the number of Tasmanians posting on here as Carlton fans (I’m one of them) and you’ll see there is a big crossover.

Makes sense the game is in Sydney because, of course, the crowd will have mixed feelings at watching Charlie run out for them and will be so emotionally invested.... ridiculous decision.

Has it even been confirmed?

If he decides to pull his finger out between catching waves and lead up the ground, Haynes or even Gov would be better options than Weitering.

If the game is umpired like this years game was (… and it will be) we are stuffed anyway.

If that's the case, we will travel to Sydney in huge numbers. It'll be like a final, Charlie won't know what to do :tearsofjoy: Bring it on!
Problem is we’ve played swans 4 out of the last 5 games at SCG. They have to make it at MCG I reckon. It’s not fair that they’ve had all those home games against us.

You would think Charlie's first game at the G' against the old team would be a big story

From a fitness etc point of view, travelling away for your first game of the season is not necessarily a bad thing. Travel is always hardest off a short break, and this knocks off one interstate trip with everyone as fresh as they can be.

But I care less about that than the fact that opening round is a nonsense, and the sooner we see the back of it, the better.

Soon we might play our traditional Round 1 clash against Richmond five weeks into the season.

Round 0000, Round 000, Round 00, Round 0, Round 1…

I cant believe it's on again next year? I thought after the teams declining to take part this year it was axed?
