You mean since Labor got into power and have to find ways to pay back the monstrous debt they've created?
Or it could be technology such as AI to speed up processes and chase payments - but yeah, probably just Dan Andrews persecuting people.

Doesn't matter what the topic is - Cookers got to Cook.

  • It's not monstrous
  • They didnt create it
  • The word debt was correct in that sentence.

He and Bev were never actually married, though she took his name via deed poll. I don't want to malign her, but I recall she passed herself off as his wife. Bev was married to another bloke when he started his relationship with her, as was the case with the woman he left Bev for. Leopard, spots...

She was married to one of HDT's mechanics and was a friend of Brocks. From all reports there was no bad blood with the change of partner and he remained a HDT mechanic and friend.
Bev knew of Peter's roving eye and turned a blind eye to it as long as he always came home.
Was all a bit weird tbh looking from the outside.

It's probably not as simple as opening up the Commbank app and checking your statements , his adviser doubtless hid the money across many investments .

But yeah , given how many music & movie stars lose money this way, you'd think he'd be more careful. He doesn't come across as stupid .

Collingwood have a history of this - in the last couple of years [PLAYERCARD]Mason Cox[/PLAYERCARD] and Dan McStay have pocketed several hundred thousand dollars of wages for doing almost nothing .

(Insert JuH joke here )

Without doubt one of the most annoying posts in the history of this site. A bulldogs supporter makes a post about players stealing a wage, I get all fired up to talk about JUH, and a throwaway quip at the end takes the wind out of my sails.

One raises one’s fist and says Booooo to you sir (or madam) Booooooo!

Regards

S. Pete

Dont worry I have a photo of a tank in my favourites

Absolutely breathtaking from Pendlebury to lose $2m and not even notice for seven years.

Even at his peak that would’ve been two years’ salary. Didn’t even notice.

Amazing.

Normally the high level scammers do it in a way that's extremely hard to tell.

They'll tell you that they've invested 600k of your money in something but in reality they only invested 500k and pocketed 100k... extremely hard to tell. Then if that investments profits and they make 500k profit, they'll tell you "Great news!!! i made you 400K"... in the end the scammer pocketed 200k but the investor walked away with 1 mil and has no idea they've been defrauded of 200k.

This all happens after many smaller successful investments over years so there is a level of trust built up.

In Sale. Victoria born and raised
On the b court was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of my training and media commitments
When a financial adviser
Who was up to no good
Startin making trouble for me at Collingwood
My bank account was empty and my wife got scared
She said 'You need an accountant both transparent and fair'

On the money here. It was his chiro that sent him on the path or crystals.
There is and excellent book "The Rise and Fall of Peter Brock" that details how it all went. Bit of a sad story for all the collateral damage caused and the demise of HDT as a business.
In todays age of assassination by social media he would never have reached the level of fame he did with the way he led his life.
Sat in front of him at the footy one day when I was a young boy, Rich v Coll 1981, what a disgusting mouth... hated him after that

Pendles sir, if you're reading this, kindly contact me directly. I have an urgent consignment of magic beans which promise excellent returns.

Wow… so Pendles was investing in the giant folly that was Western United.

Looks like his cash was keeping the doomed club afloat for a while.

Hint Pendles… A League clubs are not somewhere where you ever see “elite” ROI.
Actually, the land bank seems to be the prize. 'Gifted' by the local council for development.
Western United is just a front. It just needs to be operating long enough for the investors to get going on development of the land.

Looks like time caught up with them.

It's usually lots and lots of correspondence and transactions over a number of years. Probably had some wins at some point as well.
Then the classic is when you get some "returns" which come from funds from a new Investor.
A sophisticated scam artist can keep this all up and running for many years undetected

It stunk to high heaven from the get go… the biggest loser was the FFA who actually tried to pass it off and believe it was something serious. Yeah, a brand new massive stadium in a paddock in literally the middle of nowhere. That’s gonna happen.
