Is anyone concerned that Liam McMahon is one we should have kept?
Looked good in a depleted Bombers side at the end of the season.
Nope. The paths of Collingwood and McMahon diverged for good reasons. We delisted him. He has been available to all teams with finally a MSD selection. He has yet to secure an AFL position. I like the talls we have

He walked away. That's his right, but it removes a lot of the sentimental feelings I may have had under different circumstances. He seemed to have very little to say about his time at Collingwood when he departed, unless I missed that. That was disappointing too. Buller did a similar thing, but his career has only just begun, a little like Joe Richard's predicament, but he heaped praise on the Swans and thanked the club for giving him an opportunity. Has Checkers said anything like that?
It's funny you say that.

I was always disappointed that Johnny Noble didn't leave a goodbye message to the Pies faithful. Unless there's a video out there I've not yet seen.

I think he was pushed. Leppa said in an interview last month that list management had operated on the basis that not all of Pendles, Sidey and Howe would go around in 26 and when they defied that someone else had to get pushed out. He said Checkers ended up the one.

That and Checkers video where he said things like "unfortunately I have to go...." etc very much went with the club offering him unders to get him to move on.

Not so much pushed out the door but walked out with an arm over his shoulder.

Club didn't want him to make a video, but Johnny Noble defied them and made a video.

Personally I think goodbye messages from players are overrated. Does every player need to do the cookie cutter tear jerker Insta post when they leave?

Feels like recency bias with our decision to get rid of him. Thought he was quite strong to start the season. He was also very injured to end the year. Can't believe they played him in the prelim over McStay and kept Cox in with an underdone Pendles. There's the game over before it starts.

Cox played his part but clearly the other selections were a mistake ( or in Pendles case, bad luck, we will never know)

I saw on the news the other night that Mihocek was still on a modified programme at Melbourne because of his foot injury. And yet we passed him fit to play almost two months ago to play in the preliminary final when his injury was fresh. That was a huge mistake on our part and a costly one.You just can’t afford to play injured players in a cut throat final like that.

Should we not have played Beau either?

What was wrong with Beau?Anyway he clearly wasn’t struggling as much as Mihocek was that day.
Foot injury(it had been stepped on) that was finally operated on this week(or last). My point was that we don't know what was really going on and you certainly can't make judgements because someone is still on a modified program now.

Yep. Half the AFL is on a modified programme at this time of year.

Having said that selecting him was probably an error but hindsight is a wonderful thing

If they are simple and sincere they are appreciated. They don't have to lay it on with a trowel. After years at a club and being a part of the Collingwood family, I don't think a genuine goodbye and thanks is over the top. These blokes are genuinely loved by many of the supporters, and they feel the departure more than some might believe.

Some feel the departure less than you’d believe.
