Though if you rate Jason, Cameron and Travis Cloke….As much as I'd love to have pick #1, I'm also glad our club doesn't have to decide whether to draft Duursma. Given the career path of his brothers I would be really nervous!

If a partner for Nick is a key need, then of the candidates that are likely to be around our first pick: Rodriguez, Onley Greeves, I like Sam Swadling - if he was a wine, I'd say he has hints of Simon Black - seems to have very good hands and seems to be strong through the hips and can run all day.A part of me wants;
- the pies to move up the order at what would be a huge cost for a targeted player.
- the other part of me sees value next year in a better draft with a first rounder and a possible drop in ladder position.
I see a huge value in a partner for Nick as soon as possible. HDM was recruited with an expectation of immediate impact and that has not materialised. The list path selected over the next days will be very interesting.

Is it that weak or is it just really compromised with a lot of the good ones tied to other clubs and thus pick 3 is really about pick 7?You're not wrong, this draft gives off 2020 vibes.
The 50 odd picks will be the giveaway. It’s in the 60’s most years and this is projecting to be a smaller draft than the COVID one. It’ll have its late draft hits like every draft, but it’s a fragile thing because if there’s only 50 odd AFL relevant talents on offer across the U18’s this year how good are the tier below the best? Take a guy like Robey who was nowhere in the rankings at August. All told I’m glad we don’t have significant assets in it beyond the top 5 like Melbourne or Essendon. Is it that weak or is it just really compromised with a lot of the good ones tied to other clubs and thus pick 3 is really about pick 7?
Harsh on Xavier IMO, he’s not a superstar but a very handy playerAs much as I'd love to have pick #1, I'm also glad our club doesn't have to decide whether to draft Duursma. Given the career path of his brothers I would be really nervous!
Maybe we just take Zac and a couple of state leaguers like Blamires thenYou're not wrong, this draft gives off 2020 vibes.
IF we do that hope we don’t trade a Future 1st to do itAt most I can see us moving up to the mid 20's to pick a player we don't think is going to make it to our first pick.
Definitely can see us trading our future second to make that happen.
Judging by what North got for 25 and a future second , our future second and 39 (which will be 33 early on) might have a nice priceIF we do that hope we don’t trade a Future 1st to do it
I feel like we’ll attempt to get involved tonight. Will be interesting to see how high we can get and who we have on the whiteboard.
Offley?I watched the video of Onley again. Was his kicking a bit off? Is this a reason why he’s sliding in the draft predictions. He hit some very safe short kicks but even though he bought some time and space he seemed to not quite nail the longer kicks.
Would never happen, but would love for West Coast to be ruthless and bid on Dean, Uwhland, Patterson and Annabelle (all 4 could reaonably be pick 1 in an open draft) ahead of taking Dursmaa with their first pick.
On top of instantly wiping out all of Carlton's, Gold Coasts and Brisbane's picks, it would also likely mean a players like Murray, Addinsol and Ison would be unlikely to be matched and available to the rest of the pool.
Also wonder if clubs can make trades prior to the first pick, or if they can get caught out by having to match a bid, prior to arrangement a high pick for points trade..
Giving up a better pick in a stringer draft for a lesser pick in a weak draft??? Unlikely. At most I can see us moving up to the mid 20's to pick a player we don't think is going to make it to our first pick.
Definitely can see us trading our future second to make that happen.
Unfortunately they are rare in this draft. The nearest to 180cm is 168cm. That comes latter in the draft and we will trade out rather than invest in a risky pesky tall.Another typically dull draft coming up for us? Which 180cm half-back flanker will we invest our first pick in?

Another Reason to hate the Hawks
The one we rated in the top ten but slid through to us. He was always on our board. We're very happy.Another typically dull draft coming up for us? Which 180cm half-back flanker will we invest our first pick in?
Of course. It’ll be close to pick 30 after bids it may have not be what we would have liked. Just means we will have to find some gems late in the draftAnother Reason to hate the Hawks
Will we match that Bid?
We seem to do better with lower picks then our High PicksOf course. It’ll be close to pick 30 after bids it may have not be what we would have liked. Just means we will have to find some gems late in the draft
We’d no doubt be preparing for all scenarios. At the end of the day the player we pick will be from our whiteboard, someone we actually want, no matter where it comes in the draft.Of course. It’ll be close to pick 30 after bids it may have not be what we would have liked. Just means we will have to find some gems late in the draft
