Conole, Lions' head of recruiting speaks about Prindble. Why he was not matched.

When you have a midfield of the Ashcrofts, Neale, Dunkley and McLuggage, you can see why they didn't stretch. Would have cost them the two 3rd round picks too.

Worries me when a team does not match a bid ...why ?
Plenty of reasons
They have too much of the same type
They have others on their draft board
The cost would be too high

Its a good thing when players from the northern academies spill out to different clubs.

Exactly. It's not like midfield is an area of need for the Lions. Unlike us.

Well the Pies obviously rated him he was our 1st pick,I like the fact he can go forward and kick a goal. He reminds me a bit of M Voss a no nonsense sort of youngster who has a strong build already. I think he is a chance to play 1sts this year this year even, I see no problem with the fact Brisbane passed on him if you look at what they already have and the great good fortune of Annable also I think I would have passed also.

This does mean he cannot improve and prove the Lions wrong and he looks just the sort to do this, if things go well with Tyan,Angus and Sam we may well have some decent replacements for Sidey and Pendles but you must walk before you can run. These 3 at least have the size to compete even Tyan who though shorter has a strong body to start with.

Clearly he would have spent a lot of time around the Ashcrofts, Fletcher, Annable, Marshall, etc, which has got to be good for him. That is an incredible haul of youngsters they have been gifted. It's unfair in my view that they have had that academy as well as father/son access. Same goes for the Swans. Anyway, I think it's a fortunate move for Tyan that he is not at Lions as he would be stuck behind a string a A-graders. More opportunities with us. Stick to Pendles in the preseason, young fella.

Kids like Tyan obviously have talent, or they wouldn’t get drafted. But reading also about his good character and strong work ethic - that’s a great foundation on which to build an AFL career and - importantly - our future.

Good luck Tyan.

He is very unlike his brother who is more ebullient, he strikes me as a lad who will hard to become what he wants, very pleased with his selection as I am with all the clubs picks not easy with the picks we had.

Some of Tyan's idiosyncrasies reminds me of [PLAYERCARD]Toby Greene[/PLAYERCARD]!

Unique name
I can't give you much info on his first name but can share some of the uniqueness of his last name.

Northern NSW and SE Queensland shows up on Ancestry.com as the global hotspot for the name Prindable courtesy of an ancestor who was most probably illiterate with a mumble... he got on the boat in the old country in the mid 1800's as Michael Prendeville and got off and put a signature of sorts at Moreton Bay next to the name where the scribe heard it as Prindable.

Source: My Mother's Maiden name is Prindable from the Tweed Valley... Cousin and Uncles have often held the moniker of "Prindy"

Good luck at the Pies to my distant relative... "Prindy"

Very smart pick by us.

Seems like Brisbane knew they weren’t going to be able to give Prindable the opportunity he deserves behind the Ashcrofts and Annable.
I think it actually meant they didn't rate him enough to justify the spend it would have cost them. If they thought he was good but may have lacked immediate opportunity, they would have picked him up and then traded him in the coming years.

We look like having the best midfield in the comp in a year or so! :) :collingwood:

Based on what?

I think we have the best midfielder, but we don't seem to have someone who will realistically be a strong 2nd and 3rd threat in the middle. Other clubs do.

Just watched Allies v WA U18 Champs.Tyan was clean and one touch, good hands, good decision maker and thank God his foot skills look really really good. I can't recall him missing a target and they weren't dinky sideways 'Mayne' style kicks.

****ing joke. Just won back to back and have added some serious class. Might as well change their name to the AFL Lions

As well with the AFL Suns/Giants/Swans
