Double-digit Coaches votes for 2025

87- Nas
47- Sincs
32- Wilkie
25- Macrae
24- Roma, Windy
17- Hall
10- Sharman

Really looking forward to seeing how Windy goes next year. Could really explode and start racking them up most weeks, depending on what role he’s playing.

And with so many legitimate options for the midfield, it will be fascinating to see if he plays as a ball-winning mid, a tagging type mid, on the wing (where he was racking them up late in the year), or maybe even as the guy who replaces Nas off half back.

So many spots up in the air going into next season.

Really warming to the idea of Carrol nabbing that open half back spot. I reckon he has the class and speed to be very effective there. Also looks in very good nick, career defining season coming up for Jack.
The spot is wide open for the taking, and by all reports Carrol seems to have the frontrunner ahead of Clark, Hastie and Stocker. Much to play out though.

I don’t know that Max, Ro, Sharman and Owens can all play in the forward line at the same time can they ?
Ross sees Owens as a guy who can pressure like a small forward despite also playing as a tall so there shouldn't be an issue with playing all 4 imo especially with the extra bench spot which will probably see KPPs as the biggest beneficiary for in-game rests

He also has aerial ability which is probably the distinguishing attribute that separates him from a Clark. Better kick than Hastie and Travaglia. More offensive than LOC

It sounds like its his spot to lose atm. I hope Tobie makes a case though

From my view, he is making every post a winner, looks fit and is working well off a half back at training.

He looked good early last year before breaking down. He was close to the first in if a spot came up.

Last preseason Carroll seemed like he left the track early with niggles & missed some sessions...touch wood he seems to be holding up well so far!

He was looking really good but the body has let him down. Probably a better player than Stocker on pure talent but is very fragile.

I had him ahead of Hall at this time last season. As it turned out, I was underselling Hall a fair bit.
However, it doesn't detract from the fact Carroll looked like a good, well balanced footballer.

Could he be the Webster replacement?

IMO thats the only real "open" spot in the starting 23 and it would seem to be the irish lad, Hastie or possibly Carrol

Going to make such a difference to our team if we’re able to add the height of Max, Tom and Dougal to the group we generally had this year.

We got smashed in contested marks most weeks and next year it could very easily become a strength.

Could have marking power all over the ground.

Max, Ro, Sharman, Owens, TDK, Wilkie, Tauru, Caminiti/SOSOS/Keeler, Wood, Pou, maybe Box.
exactly our long down the line game was non existant - now it could be a strength

He played 59% of the first game last season ( i can't remember if he was subbed on, subbed off , or just sat on the bench a lot ). I remember seeing some pretty good moves from him, and when i look at his stats, nearly half his 11 disposals were contested possessions. Just gets hard to think he'll contribute significantly.

2025 zero games with more than 60% TOG.
2024 6 games with more than 60% TOG.
2023 his only game was 14% TOG.
2022 4 games with more than 60% TOG.

I'd love to see him somehow turn it around, but I think he'll be gone end of 2026.

Dow might be in a similar position.

Carroll was definitely a class above the VFL last year, but as mentioned by other posters, he would start to look really good, but then pick up an injury. I think it was the Richmond match (when Arie kicked it across goal with 20 secs left) when he pinged his hammy, he and Boxshall were the standouts that day I remember.
