Does it matter? It's just an enormous failure of the system and will have to lead to a massive shake up in how we look at gun ownership.

People blaming protests for this are fools in my opinion, but how anyone can own 6 guns let alone someone with IS links is just bonkers. Thankfully we don't experience many of these horrible events so hopefully this one is a massive wake-up call, just like Port Arthur was.

The WA state government is copping massive amounts of criticism for new laws that restrict gun ownership to 5 in some cases and 10 in other cases. To me that’s still far too many guns allowed

Such poor taste from her. Horrible choice of words.
Somebody should point out her party was responsible for not deporting them back in 2019 when put on a watchlist. If we want to go down the play politics route. Very easy to find out all this information so what does she hope to gain by choosing her rhetoric this way?.

This is going to be a wake-up call that allowing gun-nuts to dictate policy has no place in this country.

This is why it's so hard to fight insurgency in places like Afghanistan and Iraq etc. These kids are indoctrinated from the start.
You kill a terrorist and you make future terrorists of their kids.
You can be sure the issues in Gaza will continue because of this...

Or maybe because western governments invaded and bombed their countries and the locals didn’t like it.

Not sure why any civvies need multiple guns. Farmers who pest control and/or put down livestock only need at most one gun surely.

the mother's comments are unintentionally informative

He doesn’t even go out. He doesn’t mix around with friends. He doesn’t drink, he doesn’t smoke, he doesn’t go to bad places … he goes to work, he comes home, he goes to exercise, and that’s it,” she said. “Anyone would wish to have a son like my son … he’s a good boy.

i wouldn't like to have a son that didn't mix around with friends, or who only left home to work and exercise. i'd be concerned.

Blamed the government for not being hard enough on anti-semitism and "allowing it to fester" or something along those lines.
Seems reasonable. From the anti Jew chanting on opera house steps to the Isis flags proudly being raised above the harbour bridge what’s happened?

Would you walk through a Free Palestine March with a Yakima on?

One of the guys was on the ASIO watch list.
One of the guys had 6 registered fire arms.

Now i don't know if the guns and ASIO watch list were the same guy, but given their close relationship, surely the system should have been asking WTF ?.

In gun control land .
" Dude, why have these potential terrorists got 6 guns. Its OK Bro...they paid the tax on them. ".

Im not aware of them being on an ASIO watch list, if so than obviously something has gone wrong there.

The head of the ASIO didn't say that when questioned in the press conference yesterday at least.

Many of the marches were organised and led by Jews.

You know this, it’s been explained to you several times. Why pretend otherwise?

Think you are confusing people marching because they believe Palestinians have a right to exist and anti-Semitism.

Were there any anti-Semites marching? Probably. Was that why the vast vast vast majority of people were marching. No.

Being pro-Palestinian does not mean you are anti-Judaism.
Nice one. Why were they still in the streets after the ceasefire I wonder?

No. Different calibre guns have different stopping power and the ammunition costs are different as well.

So you need different sized guns for foxes raiding your chooks than for wild pigs doing all sorts of damage.

Dunno if you need ten different firearms but only having one is probably not going to work.

"Misinformation" i.e information that makes you uncomfortable or exposes you
Or, alternatively, information that is deliberately spread for the purposes of promoting a specific and false political narrative needs to be called out wherever and whenever it happens, and should be avoided at all costs.

Yes, the ones I've attended, have been attended by Jews in solidarity and we've walked peacefully past pro Israel counter protests.

The human condition needs to believe in something and has since the dawn of time. Take away religion and it will be replaced by cult beliefs, of which we currently see many.
Difference?

ABC News reporting that the two terrorists were staying in recent days at an AirBNB nearby to Bondi with 5 others. No word on them but surely those 5 must also be implicated somehow?
Campsie is not close to Bondi at all. It's about 40 mins to 1 hour away in traffic.

Also some of the reporting suggests that some of those AirBNB guests were allowed back to their accomodation this morning to retrieve their personal belongings - it might have very well been an Airbnb where you could book a room within a house.

Just so there is a clear distinction between being a Muslim and Islamism see below.

Our government has allowed people with these beliefs into our country and they are not compatible with our society.
The hero who disarmed the f****n scumbag appears to be a Muslim….he is a welcome and a valued member of our country.

Muslim vs Islamism – Key Difference

A Muslim is a person who follows Islam as a personal religion, centred on faith, worship, family, and moral conduct. Muslims, like followers of any faith, hold diverse political views and live within many different legal and cultural systems.

Islamism is not a religion, but a radical political ideology. It seeks to replace existing political, legal, and social systems with governance based on a strict interpretation of Islamic law (Sharia). Islamism is inherently anti-establishment, rejecting secular government, democratic institutions, equality before the law, freedom of speech, and pluralism.

Islamism is anti-liberal values: it opposes the separation of religion and state, limits individual freedoms, suppresses dissent, and subordinates women, minorities, and non-believers under religious authority. It frames Western democratic values as corrupt or illegitimate and aims to dismantle them rather than reform them.

It is important that everyone understands the distinction between the 2.

Key distinction:

• Muslims practice a religion.

• Islamism is a political movement that seeks power by overturning democratic, secular, and pluralistic systems.

Many Muslims actively oppose Islamism and are among its strongest critics.
Same logic that distinguishes between a Jewish person and a Zionist. One is a religious observer the other uses their religion to justify their politics.

Sovereign citizens, doomsdayers. You'd be surprised how many people are so far down the rabbit-hole they are just waiting for society to break down.
And they have prepared their bunkers and filled their armouries.
And I'm just talking about Australia here.
I know a guy, lives near me, you'd say he's fairly normal.
However, he feels he needs five rifles in his armoury just to feel safe these days.
They're all registered and paid for.
Some people collect stamps. He collects weapons.

I think that's a really long bow to draw. I don't see the link at all.

Yep.

It’s actually illegal to use certain calibres for certain animals. Eg you can’t use a .22 to shoot a fallow deer. You can’t use a .223 for Samba or Cape buffalo but you can use it for wild pig.

Ah okay. I know very little about guns despite largely being raised in the country ironically. But then again in Tasmania there isn't really much to threaten your livestock. Dad had a rifle and then gave it up after Port Arthur in the amnesty
