Look, I can absolutely see the positives with Scarlett if we pick her at #1. Her traits are exactly what we need.

However, only club insiders know whether we traded up to #1 for Scarlett or whether we did it because GWS would have taken Chloe before our #4.

Looking at the two draft profiles and the improvements needed in particular, It's a bit of a concern that Chloe needs to work on kicking precision and composure. These are two areas that seem to be the most difficult to improve on in AFLW and areas we are sadly crap at. On the other hand Scarlett's strengths are kicking and her speed and evasion.

Seems like it’s out of these two. The more I read the more I like Scarlett. (Not sure I would pick her at #1 still) Which ever way we go our side will be better for it.

Who would you pick? I like Chloe Bown myself. Seems like we made room moving Grace on?

I just find it very difficult to ignore the pedigree of Bown.

Oakleigh Charges Best and Fairest.
Coates talent League Best and Fairest
All Australian captain and U18 National Championships best.
plus a stack of other accolades that I can't think of right now...

However, I'm the first to admit that I don't watch the junior girls all that closely during the year and AFLW draft time takes me back to my uni days when I was way too into the social life and I found myself cramming for exams.

We have greater than 10% of the field of the combine attendees who put their hand up as being Tiger supporters,

I'd love to know how many had Mon as their favourite player, I reckon it would be a 1/3rd at a guess.

Richmond [9]: Josie Bamford, Priya Bowering, Elsie Conroy, Asher Fearn-Wannan, Jade Mclay, Jovie Skewes-Clinton, Amy Smith, Ashleigh Thatcher, Zoe Wilkinson

Scarlett Johnson is a Collingwood fan, Chloe Bown supports Hawthorn and Olivia Wolmarans is a West Coast fan.

More like 70% nation-wide to be honest. She was the most popular player, and it was nowhere near close (including players not with Draft Combine invites).

It's funny, as pretty much all the AFLW players grew up with an affiliation with an AFL team they seem to differentiate between AFL and AFLW and maintain that AFL team connection. I know there are quite a few AFLW players who support Richmond despite not currently playing with our women's team.

The men however move their allegiance away from the team they supported growing up to the team that drafts them or sometimes to the club they get traded to. They take an instant dislike to any team they play against.

That's insane. That is Dusty like adulation. I've gotta admit though even though I was tiger mad, my favourite player in my teens was Trevor Barker. Because of one player Saints became my second team. Good on Mon.

Yeah she's popular all over the country. The only states where others are ahead of her are WA (Bowers usually) and SA (Marinoff and sometimes Randall) but as a whole she's the dominant choice.

Ok so mere hours from the draft who's it going to be?

  • Chloe Bown
  • Scarlett Johnson
  • Olivia Wolmarans
Three very different players, tough draft to have #1 in given the evenness and depth.

Maybe different rules for different states? She may still be on provisionals.

she could run to work. She's a good runner.

I just saw that.

She’d be a great get and hopefully a long term asset

We have a lot of holes to fill so whoever we get will be good for us members and supporters and the player as I do feel for some of those in waiting lines at the strong clubs. Getting to go a youth path in both mens and women's is exciting.

Pies have got 4 picks inside 30. Should be similar for you guys.

Yeah I told the Pies to bid on Usher then jam the Suns’ communications to match and lock the door to their room 🤣

If we do pick Olivia would she be the first no. 1 pick outside Victoria?

RICHMOND is expected to take Subiaco key forward Olivia Wolmarans with the first selection in tonight’s Telstra AFLW Draft.
After a week which saw the Tigers’ attention swing from Chloe Bown to Northern Knights bolter Scarlett Johnson, they settled on the 180cm spearhead in the last 24 hours.
Wolmarans has an athletics background, having competed at the West Australian junior state titles in heptathlon, and also played rugby as a junior.
She’s the best contested mark in the draft pool and is equally agile at ground level.

We desperately need a KPF so makes sense.

Cant wait till she ****s off home though.

Hopefully Megamind done his DD.

Word is that West Coast made a play for the pick one so they could draft her.

If they want her and she wants to go home then she'll cost 2 x first rounders and three sets of steak knives.

This doesnt sound right. The mens team prefer to split high picks into junk rather than trade up to the elites
