Tigers sign Ana Mulholland​

Richmond has signed Gaelic midfielder and international netballer, Ana Mulholland to its AFLW list for the next two seasons.

Richmond is pleased to announce it has recruited Northern Irish Gaelic talent, Ana Mulholland, to its AFLW list for the next two seasons.
The 21-year-old Antrim midfielder is known as a dynamic midfielder in GAA circles and is expected to be able to play a range of positions in the AFLW.

Richmond AFLW List and Recruiting Manager, Trent Mosbey, said that Mulholland’s speed, agility, and high running capacity were eye-catching.

“Ana’s ability to transition both ways and carry the ball impressed us,” he said.

“Her skill level and cleanliness by hand are at an advanced level, and we see scope for Ana to play multiple roles across the field.
“Ana plays a physical, combative style with her intercepting and defending, which are highly regarded in the front half in Gaelic, which are all attributes that fit the AFLW game style.

“She is also a competitive, hardworking, and determined athlete, so we are really excited to be adding her to our program.”

Mulholland is no stranger to switching codes, given she was also Northern Ireland’s netball captain at the recent U/21 World Youth Cup and has played for her country at the senior level.

The Belfast product becomes the Club’s second-ever Irish AFLW player, and she will join Aoibhin Cleary on the list for next season.
Mulholland will arrive in Australia in May 2026, following the completion of her university studies, where she will soon become a PE Teacher.

Richmond has three remaining list spots for the 2026 AFLW season and holds selections 1, 38, and 53 at tonight’s Telstra AFLW Draft.

It's a factory that's for sure and other than GAA turning professional not much they can do as denying someone's ability for earning. Maybe it will slow down one day but I think there's another 1/2 dozen at least signed this year.

I'm not sure it will slow down. There is an AFL Ireland (modified) comp over there with 4 women's teams. That will no doubt eventually attract juniors in a addition to the usual Gaelic players who make the transition.

They are fortunate that most of the Irish women who play AFLW have a very very deep loyalty to their county teams and travel back there each year otherwise the uproar that we are stealing their best players would be x 10.
