I agree, but the reason Gawn stands out so much is he is insanely impactful in the position.

Rucks that do their work but also have the ability to be mobile around the ground and fill holes are worth a fair bit. Gawn has that.
Not saying you’re wrong obviously, just that I myself think Max is exceptional and I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to watch his career

I know there were some seriously good players in the 50s, but are people trying to justify that any of them(apart from maybe Ron) would have been better players than Max? I get it's hard to compare era's, however the modern players would destroy those sides back then. Yeah, with modern training and money etc we don't know how good these guys would have been. But Gawn's running capabilities alone with his height would see him cover every player back then.

They would just deck him behind play and he'd sook up like he does against Port every time.

There a few arguments that you can make about Cox > Gawn - contested marking is not one of them.
Cox averaged 0.85 a game, Gawn averages 2.07.

Gawn has literally held top 5 rankings as a contested mark for a fair while - while also being a primary ruck. It’s a pretty special achievement

It’s not so much that. It’s that it isn’t a discussion board at all, it’s where people go with their most immovable views to basically state them at each other so there’s not a whole lot of listening and virtually no thinking. And some of it gets a bit spooky but I assume is deleted sooner or later

I think a lot of suspensions are from minor infringements that accumulate points over time. But yeah this one surprised me.
