I don't really get the point of the State Of Origin apart from being a cash grab for the media deal. I'll definitely watch it but itll never have the venom that the NRL one has.
Exhibition match at its finest
Maybe if SA were also playing and Tassie/NT and Queensland/NSW/ACT were playing it would me meaningful. Agree that Victoria and WA playing a one-off SOO is nothing more than a tourism promotion as well as an attempt to generate more media broadcasting and sponsorship $. I would be livid if Toby/Jesse/ Sam Taylor were injured in this meaningless SOO match.

With Fonti, Whitfield and a few other young mid sized half backs coming through. Do we look at Ash in a midfield role?
Can run both ways, defensively accountable and uses the ball well.

With no Josh Kelly I still feel like we are mid short.
very unlikely.

If we move an experience player through the middle, I reckon it will be Daniels.

I've heard them talk about the young midfielders coming through, they are very confident they have it covered.

They love McMullen, are very bullish on Rowsten and Leake and think that Ough has plenty to offer as well.

Im not sure on where they see Hannaford and what they think.

I think he's thrived under having some role clarity for sure.
Daniels I think can do bursts in the mid....or be that forward who pushes up like the Kid with the Lid. Creates an option at the front of the contest.

McMullen I don't rate (I know they like him but I still don't see it)

Leake has been in no man's land for me. Started as a mid....moved back...what is he? Tasmanian?

Rowston is the one for me....I predicting the breakout last year but it didn't happen. He's great forward too...good aggressive player.

Pugh and Hannaford will be good...but if it's win NOW. Then I can still see Ash getting a trial.

Little bit of a pre-season report from Codesports:

It’s been a hot start to the pre-season in Western Sydney, but all eyes have been on new recruit [PLAYERCARD]Clayton Oliver[/PLAYERCARD] and his start to life in the orange and charcoal. The former Demon believes he’s never been in better nick, and a firing Oliver could be the difference for GWS’ midfield.

There has also been plenty of time to marvel at the recovery of Darcy Jones. The livewire small forward suffered an ACL injury in the elimination final against Hawthorn, but has impressed everyone with his rehabilitation and is already back running.

The two youngsters with similar last names, Cody Angove and Ryan Angwin, have also been among the most impressive players in December. It’s only been a short training block, but they’re both eyeing off a spot in the best 23.

Several players are on modified programs, including [PLAYERCARD]Jesse Hogan[/PLAYERCARD] and Leek Aleer. The aim is to get them ready for opening round. Josh Kelly (hip) is the only long-term injury, with no confirmed timeline for his return at this stage.

Not much new info, but it sounds like Darcy Jones' rehab is going remarkably quickly. I wonder if we might even see him some time in the first half of the season.

Hopefully no news is good news for Daniels' getting back to normal.
