Hunters at the Espi. The Slab, early days. The band was so good live. Loved the brass section.

Prince of Wales for punk bands, Depression is the one I remember. There were many bands and nights.

So good. Why do it only once?
Weddings, Parties, Anything were favourite.

Surf City was the place to go in Sydney in 60's.
Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs
Ray Brown and the Whispers
Easybeats
Max Merritt and the Meteors
Am sure there were others that I don't remember.
Thems were the days.

Even old manic didn't party in the 60s. I was more interested in getting a 5 cents bag of lollies for myself and the hope that the shop keeper gave me a free blue heaven milk shake

As Billy admits in the interview, when he was young his voice was high pitched and he couldn't understand why he was so popular. Lucky for him his voice deepened as he got older and was much better.
Unfortunately, he died way too young.
Good memories are to be treasured.

They were all great bands. Billy Thorpe was a legend.

Do you remember the venue just up the road from the Espy? I saw a lot of good bands there. The Sunnyboys used to light the place up.
No, just the Espy and Prince of Wales. I am sure there were more but that has been fixed by age, health and big nights. I remember the Palais, but no other small venues.

It was across the road from the Palais. It was called The Venue. Anyway, it was a great spot for live bands. I went to the Palais a bit as well

Went to the Venue a few times.
The springy dance floor was freaky.

Saw Oils there in 85 doing their Species Deceases tour.

When I lived in Carlton, I used to go to Martini's most weeks.
They had great bands all the time.
I saw the Models, Mi-Sex, Serious Young Insects, Meo 245, and INXS the first time they played in Melbourne.
There were many more.
Those were the days!

Bands from the 60s were too early for me. Oils, Angels, INXS, chisel and split house were seen endlessly. Great stuff.
Angels moshie while they belt out Mr Damage!

They used to have concerts at Latrobe Uni - saw Angels, Cold Chisel, Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons, Mi-Sex, etc.
I saw Nirvana at Melbourne uni just before they broke in Australia. Id never heard of them. Loved them. Then went home and saw the Smells like teen spirit video clip on Rage and knew they were going to be massive.

Nah, not in my dumplings, recipe came from old Robert Carrier cookbook from the 60's I think.
Fluffiest dumplings never fail. If you cook a chook in a clay pot, it ends up with chicken stock jelly in bottom of pot with half an inch of chicken fat which can be saved in freezer until needed, just the right amount for the dumplings and chicken is fantastic done in clay pot, cooks in its own juices.

I stand corrected and not for the fist time. Don't listen to manic. I have chemo brain and unable to think clearly.

That's your excuse and you're sticking to it 😂
Lol, it really is. On top of that they give me 100mg of corticosteroids for 4 days, which I didn't sleep for 4 days , same the weeks before. I didn't sleep for 4 days while I was on them. I have refused anymore corticosteroids for the remainder of the chemo. It sends you around the twist

Oh I'm sorry, manic.
I was trying to keep things normal :(

My sister's treatment has some sort of drug once a month that keeps her awake for 2 days.

It's the steroids. They give them to you prior to chemo. It's for nausea and inflammation, which I don't have so there will be no steroids tomorrow when I go. It also raises my blood sugar to dangerous levels. I don't need that shit, it's worse than the chemo itself. Don't stress, I'm cool with it all. It is what it is

A Magpie adopted us on Christmas day and is still with us. I have named him Rupert in honour of Rupert Betheras. He has so far consumed slow cooked lamb, ham, plum pudding, seed, and my finger. So he is as committed to the feed bag and bout as indiscriminate as me. I think Rupert is the new alpha of the house, the cats are fully intimidated and the roos and horses are in awe. To be honest, so am I.
