Although not bendigo related, sunraysia and Wimmera clubs are spending big, where the bang for buck getting sanfl stars far outweighs recruiting from suburban and vfl clubs and is really pushing up the standard of these leagues, bendigo is being left behind as whats it identity now? Theres a higher standard of footy now in these leagues or guys head out to the hdfl

Its bewildering that the rules 'enforced' by AFLVic are so blatantly disregarded. One player offered 80k to play would see 20 odd players fight over the scraps of 40K which would see them all on a maximum of $111 per game. The flow on affect that this has on other clubs is concerning. Why does the charade of caps still continue ?

Bewildering isn’t the word I would use

What rules are these that you speak of?

As long as Wangs sides are winning flags , not Albury , all is fine .

I think theres a few sides in the sfl, with 3+ guys from the sanfl, so you look 80k + 40k + 40k for 3 guys.

Theres guys in the past couple of years fringe sanfl players do a 12 hour round trip drive every week to Victoria, you get far more bang for your buck recruiting from Adelaide than melbourne

Bewildering is Extremely kind IMO

Dudes still work 40-50 hours a week yeh?

I couldn’t believe the amount of times this year the sum of money quoted on offer for a now filled coaching job near me was discussed when attending games in another vocation.

Not full time, simply turn up and overlook training Tues/Thurs and then try ya best between 2-5pm 16 times on a Saturday.

The local footy world is borderline rooted and sadly we’re all at fault 😢🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

You just have to remember clubs in the country used to offer more coin than the vfl, the only trouble is none of the guys now on big coin are Bob Rose

Western Border league had more than a few in the 70s earning more than their VFL days.
There was speculation Brodie Atkinson was on a house (rent free), nice job at the aluminium smelter and good $$$ to coach Portland in the early 2000s.
Got them a flag.

You think the young bloke fresh out of Richmond would dominate if he wasn’t coming off a knee reconstruction so if he comes good he will kick a few bags
Will be interesting to see how much he actually plays. Usually ex AFL players are at their best the first year after being in the AFL system.

Wonder if he’ll be better than Eyre.

Can confirm. Last straw was a fake gofundme account which everyone donated to, after multiple allegations of theft from the club and relentless bullying of his 18’s teammates… was on his way to Sandhurst until they did their homework..
Looks like things must be getting a bit desperate out at Tannery Lane, if their last 2 recruits are a kid with an alleged chequered background, and one from Maryborough and a year at Carisbrook who with all due respect hasn’t exactly set the world on fire in senior footy.

Or its the complete opposite. Picking up Melvic adds depth and if he can stay on the straight and narrow they could get a high ceiling young player but if not and he leaves or they move him on they aren't losing a best 22 key player. McClure good mates with LanFranchi I'm told. Both those guys will be in the senior selection convo all year if they manage to lock in a role good for them if not and they don't hang around its no big issue for Strath.
