The more you hear about the lad, the more you know he's born to be a Pie. So many kids get knocked back in these "Talent quests" because of perceptions (too small, too slow, goes to the wrong school.....etc)....seen it so many times. Mick Turner (GRHS) was famous for telling local kids to switch from local public schools to one of the Geelong feeder schools (Grammar, College, Oberon or St. Joey's) or they wouldn't get a look in at the Falcons. It's all about perception....but this kid Tyan...he's busted down his own doors with hard work and persistence. Can't wait to see what the future holds for another blue collar Pie.

Always good to have a player who has a point to prove and a bit of a " I want to stick it up them!" attitude.

I'll be interested to read from track watchers if he has a reliable right foot / right sided game to match his skillset on his left. Clearly knows how to get it and a nice one touch distributor. Would be keen to see if he can also carry / bounce the ball and accelerate / burst through heavy traffic. Looks a capable mark for is size from available footage.

no offence to young Tom McGuane, but you can see why we preferred this kid, already physically developed
Left foot is a weapon
I am not sure it was choice between him and Tom as Tian was our 1st pick and it is becoming clear why this was so, I think Tian is a good chance to get early games and it be interesting to see how he goes when intra club and practice games come around. It was interesting to me that they have already identified that he has the body and nearly the fitness level to be playing early, he may lack a little strength now but the body is AFL ready now.

I actually get M Voss vibes about this kid with the way he conducts himself and no nonsense attitude, now before anyone gets after me comparing him to Voss who was 1 of the best players I ever saw but I do see a lot of similar traits in the 2 of them at 18. It is very easy to see why he was the 1st one picked and I am stating it now the Lions have made a huge mistake with this boy and I would not mind them making another with his brother but I think that chance has gone because the Lions have put him in their academy already.
