Just goes to show any team can conceivably win the national championship now.

No excuses just need the right coach and some boosters.
and great to see new logos. and bonus because it pisses off people like Paul Finebaum who only care about logos from the south and try to ruin the sport for everyone else.

The idea that a mythical sky man has any bearing on sports is hilarious.
I'm glad that instead of intervening in the wars and famines and murders happening right now, God is busy dictating the outcomes of football games.

People that shit on this new era of college football are funny to me.

NIL levelled the playing field who wants to see the same teams in the final every single year.

Indiana vs Miami was a great final.
My issue is with the lack of rules around NIL, the lack of accountability over tampering and the way NIL Agents work [since they are not registered sport agents and are grubs] the sketchy agents is why there are so many players told to enter the portal and dont get picked up, also cant go back because that scholarship and roster spot is now gone.

It needs regulations and guard rails. It also sucks that my school never gets the good players but loses them over NIL.
Its dont more good just from moving the player payments into the light.

Its far from the worst thing around the sport. the Media is that with how they just ignore or undermined G5 schools and even smaller P4 schools.
"Oh its unsafe for a G4 school to play a Big10/SEC school in the playoffs" yet they have no issue stealing their players or playing worse teams in November before a rivalry game

Apparently you or I could put NIL Agent in our twitter bio and that's as good as legit.

Pretty laughable

Also don't think Indiana gets enough love for going undefeated the entire year only the third team ever to go 16-0
I can only find the Yale 1894 team

Because if they are a registered sports agent its against NCAA rules. Everyone saw it coming. the NCAA needed to open a loophole for real agents to protect players from the sketchy ones. Its not even portal stuff, Look at the UNLV QB last season who left the team over a payment issue because his agent was bullshitting him and the school

And that even though God allegedly loves all his children he is still favouring a rare few with giving them amazing athletic gifts and is the sole reason why those chosen few are successful in life....

It is one of the main reasons why the Big 10 and SEC (Sanky in particular) keep talking about breaking away from the NCAA.

Big10 wont break away if they lose the academic funding they get. and given some schools like USC and Michigan shut down the PE funding. wont happen any time soon.

NIL levelled the playing field
Not sure you know what leveling the playing field is. Sure it has opened up the game for teams who don't usually contend and don't get stacks of 5 star recruits. But it certainly hasn't leveled the playing field.

Its spread out the players from more then 3-4 teams and stopped teams from loading up on 5* players sitting.

I saw a graphic about the 2026 recruiting cycle and how many players of each star grade teams have. When looking at the top 6 classes by grade, of the 5 star recruits Georgia, USC, and Ohio State have 1 each. Bama has 3. Notre Dame has 4 while Oregon has 5. Before NIL, Georgia, Bama, and Ohio State would have shared the majority of those with Notre Dame getting 1 or 2, USC maybe nabbing 1 if they could convince a player to stay in state, with Oregon not getting any.

To say NIL hasn't leveled the playing field at least somewhat is just wrong. Hell Travis Hunter was a 5 star recruit out of high school and went to JMU before following Prime to Colorado. If teams have the cash and the coach then they can compete.

Without NIL Texas Tech is mid range in the Big12.

but Indiana just proved you can win without any 5* players on the team. Also more and more 5* players are peaking in highschool and not living up to the hype

Pretty much what I posted. But as I said it hasn't leveled the playing field. Not everyone one has the same chance even in the same conference now and going forward.

honestly the star system has become outdated not even something worth paying attention to anymore.

it has run its course I think

IMO it is a consequence of NIL and player spread. The best coaches and player developers are at the big schools. 5 stars choosing to go elsewhere for money are going to places where they are not being developed right. There is a reason why Georgia has had so much success and so many players drafted since Kirby took over. There is a reason why the best wanted to go and play for Saban. There is a reason Ohio State keeps pumping out first round WRs.
